About Artistry in Detail: Hand Embroidery & Motifs
I do not believe in one-size-fits-all designs. When we sit down to plan your embroidery, we look at your specific saree's border weight and Zari color first. This ensures the motifs—whether you choose traditional florals or custom figures—balance perfectly with your fabric, ensuring the blouse elevates the saree rather than overpowering it.
My approach to embroidery is rooted in the careful study of the fabric. Whether you are bringing a heavy Kanjivaram or a fluid Crepe silk, the embroidery must respect the material's drape. I specialize in Aari and Zardozi work, using materials like semi-precious stones, antique gold beads, and high-grade Zari threads to create texture that catches the light.
My Design Process
- Custom Motif Development: I sketch designs specific to your event. If you want symbols like peacocks, elephants, or even specific floral patterns that match your jewelry, I can incorporate those into the neck or sleeve design.
- Material Selection: I match the thread work density to your occasion. For a Muhurtham, we might go for heavy, dense embroidery, while for smaller gatherings, I suggest lighter, cleaner patterns that look elegant without being overly heavy.
- Structural Details: Embroidery is not just about the top layer. I ensure the structural integrity of the blouse with double lining, canvas reinforcement for necklines, and sweat pads, so the finished piece is comfortable to wear for hours during long ceremonies.
I operate out of my studio in Nelamangala, Bangalore. If you are planning for a wedding or a special festival, I recommend we meet to discuss the embroidery concepts and fabric matching early in your planning process to get the best result.
