Our design approach prioritizes safety without compromising on aesthetics. We use rounded edges, non-toxic finishes, and secure, floor-to-ceiling storage, ensuring every corner is free of hazards. Whether we are integrating a climbing wall for active play or a quiet study nook, our goal is a room that supports both energy and rest.
Designing a space for children requires a different set of priorities than the rest of the house. A child's room is a bedroom, a study, a playroom, and a sanctuary all at once. We approach these projects by considering how the space will function for the child today and how it will adapt as they grow older.
Prioritizing Safety and Functionality
We build for longevity. Our wardrobes use BWP grade plywood, ensuring the furniture handles the wear and tear of active play. We incorporate rounded corners on furniture, soft-close hardware (like Blum and Hettich) to prevent pinched fingers, and secure anchoring for all heavy units. For younger children, we prioritize low-profile, accessible storage that helps them stay organized, transitioning into integrated study desks as they reach school age.
Creating Imaginative Zones
Every child has a different energy. In our recent projects, we have integrated features like climbing walls for high-energy kids, custom murals that reflect their specific interests—such as sports or astronomy—and cozy window seats for reading. Lighting plays a crucial role; we move away from harsh overheads to layered solutions, including warm cove lighting and task lights for reading areas, which helps regulate their mood and focus.
Designing for Longevity
We avoid themes that a child will outgrow in two years. Instead, we use neutral base palettes and modular furniture designs. This allows you to change the room's character with simple updates—a new decal, different curtains, or a change in accessories—without needing a full renovation. Whether it is a compact room in a city apartment or a spacious layout, we ensure every inch is utilized to create a room that feels like a 'Ghibli' hug—soft, warm, and distinctly theirs.
