PSA Competition and Trial Highlights
This is the proving ground. We train for courage, control, and absolute focus under the extreme pressure of Protection Sports Association trials.
Solan's PSA 2 protection video from the Bangalore trials, where he earned his first leg. This was an emotional moment, as his mother Xena earned her title under the same judge. This is his legacy.
Another angle from Solan's PSA 2 trial in Bangalore. Despite his young age of two, he showed incredible potential. This performance is a tribute to his mother, Xena, and the hard work of my partner, Simran.
The obedience portion of Solan's PSA 2 trial. The judge, Jonathan Katz, creates intense distractions, but Solan maintains his focus. This is a testament to our training methodology.
PSA is a sport built on passion and integrity. This photo was taken after a successful trial, but it also represents our commitment to pushing the sport forward with fairness and transparency. The shirt says it all: "If I'm on the field, it is for Xena."
A clip from a club day, which is essential for trial preparation. Here, Yugen works on a hidden handler scenario with a club decoy, Bunty, while I provide feedback. It takes a team to build a trial-ready dog.
Announcing my PSA Seminar. With multiple PSA titles, including the only PSA 2 in Asia, and as an apprentice PSA judge, I am dedicated to sharing my knowledge of the sport with other enthusiasts.
An advertisement for my PSA Seminar, where I teach everything from the basics to advanced competitive strategies.
The Day 1 topics for my PSA seminar, covering puppy selection, genetics, drives, and building a solid foundation for obedience and bite work.
The Day 2 topics for my PSA seminar, focusing on PSA1 level obedience and protection scenarios like car jacking and courage tests.
The Day 3 topics for my PSA seminar, diving into the advanced exercises for PSA2 and PSA3, including surprise scenarios and heavy decoy pressure.
About PSA Competition & Trial Highlights
When you see Solan working a trial, you are seeing the result of 99% of our time spent training just Simran and me, without a club or external help. It is about proving that the bond and the drive we build at our Gurugram facility hold up when the pressure is on. This isn't just about ribbons; it is about verifying the structure and temperament of our working lines.
PSA is not just about showing off commands. It is the ultimate measure of a working dog's nerves, grip, and handler connection. When we compete, we are testing years of foundation work against the toughest scenarios. Whether it is car jacking simulations or heavy decoy pressure, the dog must think clearly while under high-stress.
My Dutch Shepherd Solan's journey to his PSA 2 title captures exactly what we strive for. It was not perfect, and that is the reality of the sport. We faced immense pressure, and he showed the stability we breed for. We train for this level of competition in our own backyard in Gurugram. It is just Simran and me, day in and day out, building that relationship so that when we step onto the field, it is muscle memory for both of us.
If you are looking to get into the sport or need a dog with the grit to compete, you need to understand that this requires full commitment. It is not for the faint-hearted, but for those who want to see exactly what their dog is capable of. We don't just train for obedience, we train for a dog that can protect and perform when it matters most.
Varun Anand
My wife, Simran, and I run Canine Conditioning out of our facility in Gurugram. We do not believe in big teams or clubs, just deep, focused work between us and the dogs. If you are serious about the sport, you will find us out on the field every single day.
