About You Dream It, I Bake It: Novelty Cakes
When you order a novelty cake, like my popular Vada Pav or whiskey bottle designs, the magic is in the details. I personally hand-sculpt every element using fondant to ensure it looks exactly like the real thing, while keeping the sponge inside moist and delicious. Because these designs are labor-intensive, I need at least four days to plan the structure and prepare the custom components so they stay perfect until you cut into them.
My kitchen in Borivali is where the real fun happens. When I say every cake has a story, I mean it. Whether it is a tribute to a loved one's profession or a joke between friends, my goal is to capture that essence in sugar and sponge.
Why Novelty Cakes Matter
These cakes are more than just dessert. They are the center of the party. I have sculpted everything from Surmai fry on a banana leaf to financial-themed cakes with edible currency. These designs require careful structural planning, often involving dowels and internal supports to make sure gravity does not ruin the look.
The Process
- The Idea: We start with your concept. It does not have to be polished. Just tell me the theme, and we will figure out the design together.
- The Build: I work with 100% eggless recipes. For complex novelty shapes, I use a denser sponge base that holds its shape while tasting great.
- The Detail: This is where the time goes. Hand-molding fondant figures, painting edible details, and assembling the theme take time.
Things to Consider
- Lead Time: Please book these custom designs at least 4-5 days in advance.
- Storage: These are crafted cakes. Keep them in a cool place and avoid direct sunlight so the fondant stays firm.
- Customization: If you have a specific reference image or a wild idea, send it over. I love trying new things.
