Handcrafted Custom Cakes and Fondant Art
From storytelling cakes to intricate sugar figurines, this collection is a look at my favorite projects and the craft behind them. Everything you see here is designed and created right in my Malleswaram studio.
This cake, a tribute to Indian history, was one of my most challenging and rewarding projects. It shows the entire process, from building the internal structure for the horse to hand-painting the intricate gold details on the king's armor. This is the level of detail and storytelling I love to bring to my custom cake creations.
Want to create figurines with personality? I can teach you how. This video shows my own journey from simple figures to the detailed work I do today. My beginner's workshop in Malleswaram, Bangalore, is designed to teach you the core fondant modeling techniques that took me years to learn on my own.
A client sent me an AI-generated image for a baby shower cake. I explained what was possible with real, edible materials and we worked together to create this beautiful design. It features a hand-sculpted expectant mother figurine surrounded by a garden of delicate buttercream flowers.
I'm so proud of this piece which won first place at Cakeology 2024. It's a tribute to the vibrant street markets of India, all made on cupcakes. From the hand-woven fondant baskets to the tiny vegetables and the figures of the vendors, every detail tells a story.
This was my entry for an online modeling competition, and I was thrilled to win second place. My concept was 'Tangled Under Water', reimagining Rapunzel as a mermaid chasing glowing jellyfish instead of lanterns. It was a fun opportunity to push my creative boundaries with dynamic poses and new techniques.
This short tutorial shows how to break down complex characters into simple shapes. Here, I demonstrate how to build a horse figurine using basic cone shapes for the body and limbs. My online 'Furry Friends' class builds on these fundamentals to teach you how to create expressive, interacting animal figures.
This cake was for a grandfather's birthday, featuring him with all his grandkids. Creating personalized figurines that capture the likeness and love of a family is one of the most special parts of my job. These are the cakes that become the centerpiece of a celebration.
I love projects that let me build a whole world in miniature. For this 5th birthday, I created an entire road scene with decorated cookies. It's a great example of how we can use custom cookies to create a unique and interactive dessert experience.
Get to know the faces behind the cakes. I started Cake It Easy in 2013, and in 2021, my sister Nivedita joined me. We're a small, passionate team dedicated to creating beautiful, commercially viable edible art from our studio in Bangalore.
About Featured
When you commission a custom cake, you are getting an edible story, not just a dessert. I hand-sculpt every figurine and structural element from scratch, meaning we can bring any concept to life, from family tributes to complex, themed birthday surprises. If you have an idea—even a rough sketch—I would love to walk you through how we can translate that into a delicious cake that is built to last through your event.
Being a cake artist in Bangalore isn't just about baking; it's about engineering and storytelling. My process starts long before the oven is turned on. Whether you come to me with a detailed concept or a simple doodle, I focus on the structural integrity of your cake so it arrives looking exactly as it should.
The Hand-Sculpting Process
Unlike mass-produced toppers, every figurine you see here is made by hand. I use professional-grade fondant and gumpaste to capture details, from family resemblances to specific outfits or hobbies. If you aren't a fan of fondant, I can often achieve the same personality using chocolate or cookie toppers.
Designing Your Cake
I often see beautiful, AI-generated images on Pinterest that clients want to recreate. While these digital images are fantastic for inspiration, they aren't always physically possible to replicate with edible materials. When you share a reference, I will be honest with you about what we can adapt. I’ll explain how we can capture the same vibe, color scheme, and story using real ingredients, ensuring the result is both stunning and delicious.
Practical Details for My Clients
Everything is made in my Malleswaram studio. Since these cakes are fragile, delicate pieces of art, I always recommend keeping your car AC on during transport, especially during Bangalore summers. If you have a specific theme in mind—whether it's for a Seemantham, a themed birthday, or an anniversary—my goal is to ensure the final product is not only a highlight of your celebration but also tastes as good as it looks.
