About this collection
Our classical programs follow the traditional Guru-Shishya approach, meaning percussion classes for tabla and mridangam require floor seating to maintain proper posture and ergonomics. This requires physical discipline, so come prepared to focus on the traditional techniques that make these instruments unique.
At BTA, we treat music as a living tradition rather than a dry academic subject. When you study Carnatic or Hindustani music with us, you are not just memorizing scales, you are connecting with the roots of Indian classical music.
Our instructors guide students through the complexities of Ragas and Talas with patience, ensuring that both vocalists and instrumentalists build a strong foundation. Whether you are picking up the Veena for the first time or returning to the Tabla to refine your rhythm, we ensure the learning environment is authentic.
We believe that music is meant to be shared. That is why we host regular classical concerts, like our 'Sur' event, to give students the chance to perform in front of an audience. It helps replace performance anxiety with confidence.
A few practical points for our classical students:
- Consistency: Since our specialist tutors visit on fixed days, missed classes cannot be made up. Regular attendance is key to progress.
- Instrument Care: While we have some instruments for emergency use, students are expected to bring their own Tabla, Mridangam, or Violin to every class for the best learning experience.
- Posture: For our percussionists, floor seating is the standard to ensure the correct hand positioning and rhythm control.
Whether you are four or forty, if you have the desire to learn, we have the space for you to grow.
Butterfly Talent Academy
We are Butterfly Talent Academy, but everyone calls us BTA. We started this place to give people a space where they could genuinely connect with their cultural roots, whether that is through Hindustani vocals or the rhythmic patterns of a tabla. It feels more like a family than a school because we believe everyone has a spark that just needs the right stage to shine.
