A perfect front foot drive requires more than just power. It demands discipline, early length judgment, and the right weight transfer.

This is a front-foot drive with perfect execution. To play this shot, you must keep the bat close to your body, get your head over the ball at impact, and transfer your weight completely onto the front leg.

If you are getting beaten while driving, it's often because of a half-hearted approach. Once you've judged the length, you must commit fully, get your body over the ball, and lean into the shot.

Here we are practicing the on-drive and straight drive. The key is to wait for the ball to come to you instead of chasing it. Let the ball arrive, and then just give it direction.

This is a very effective drill to play grounded drive shots with control. By practicing this, you learn to transfer your body weight correctly and keep your head on top of the ball, preventing the shot from going in the air.

Learning the cover drive in simple steps. The key is to use your top hand to guide the bat and focus on timing, not power. Let the sweet spot of the bat do the work.

This ball drop drill is excellent for practicing the front-foot drive and ensuring proper body weight transfer. You have to reach the pitch of the ball and hit it right underneath your head.

Here are the key points for a perfect on-drive. The downswing starts from the first slip, weight is on the front leg, head is over the contact point, and you finish with a high elbow.

This drill is designed to improve weight transfer on the front-foot drive. By elevating the back foot, the batsman is forced to commit his full body weight forward into the shot.

The single-hand drive is a great drill to improve body balance, power, and control in your shots. It strengthens your top hand, which is crucial for guiding the bat and playing controlled drives.

If you are struggling with balance while playing the front-foot drive, this drill is the solution. It forces you to maintain a stable base and transfer your weight smoothly through the shot.

About Mastering the Drive: Front Foot Dominance

Many players struggle with drives because they chase the ball instead of letting it come to them. We use specific drills like the drop-ball method to force you to commit your weight forward. If your head is not over the contact point, you lose control and power. We fix your stance so you stop dragging the bat and start hitting from the sweet spot.

Playing a controlled drive is the hallmark of a disciplined batsman. At the academy, we break this down into a repeatable process. You cannot rush this shot. It starts with your stance. If your bat is too far from your body, your weight falls off balance.

We focus on these key areas:

  • Weight Transfer: Your back foot must remain grounded while your head and front leg drive toward the pitch of the ball. We use elevated back-foot drills to ensure your full weight goes into the shot.
  • Head Position: If your head falls away, you will either miss the ball or hit it in the air. We insist on keeping the head on top of the contact point.
  • Top Hand Control: Using your bottom hand too aggressively ruins your timing. We focus on the top hand to guide the ball with precision.

Whether you are a beginner or looking to correct a flaw in your technique, we use video analysis to show you exactly where you are going wrong. You will practice with manual throwdowns and robo-arm machines until the movement becomes muscle memory. This is not about hitting hard. It is about hitting right.
