I love the stories from Sam & Mi because they are designed to instill essential life skills like empathy and problem-solving. These books by Indian publisher Priyanka Agarwal Mehta are a joyful addition to any child's library.

I'm celebrating the incredible books from Pickle Yolk Books, an independent Indian publisher. Each title is a treasure, filled with award-winning stories and breathtaking illustrations that capture the imagination.

We had so much fun trying to guess the author in this game. The answer was Alankrita Amaya, a wonderful Bangalore-based author and illustrator whose books we proudly stock.

This Hindi-English bilingual book, "Champu's Trip to Outerspace," is written by the talented Alankrita Amaya. It's a perfect example of the fun, multilingual books from Indian creators that we offer.

"Amma Barodu Yaavaga?" is another gem from author-illustrator Alankrita Amaya, this time in Kannada. It's so important to me to have books that reflect the languages of our community in Bengaluru.

This interactive book is a favorite among our youngest readers. Alankrita Amaya's work is playful, engaging, and a wonderful representation of modern Indian children's literature.

A delightful board book by a local author, perfect for tiny hands and curious minds. Supporting Indian authors like Alankrita Amaya is at the heart of what I do.

This touch-and-feel book is another fantastic creation from Alankrita Amaya. It combines sensory play with a sweet story, showcasing the innovation of Indian publishers.

"Summer's Children" is a self-published wordless graphic novel by Indian artist Anpu Varkey. It's a powerful example of the unique and artistic storytelling coming from our country's creators.

The detailed pointillism art in this book is incredible. Each page tells a story of childhood in rural Kerala without a single word, relying on universal emotions and experiences.

About Celebrating Indian Voices: Authors & Publishers

When you choose a book from an Indian indie publisher like Pickle Yolk or Tulika, you aren't just buying paper and ink. You’re giving your child a mirror to their own world—familiar festivals, local landscapes, and the comfort of our diverse languages. I often hear parents worry if these stories are as good as the international bestsellers, and my answer is always the same: they’re better, because they feel like home. If you’re unsure where to start, drop me a message, and I’ll help you find a title that matches your child's age and interests.
