For this piece, I switched from my usual graphite pencils to ballpoint pen. It is a completely different challenge because you cannot erase your mistakes, but it creates a deep, glossy black that you just cannot get with charcoal. Pushing Beyond Portraits

While my core work involves hyper-realistic portraits, I find that working on experimental pieces keeps my technique sharp. Whether it is an anime character, a comic-style sketch, or a concept piece, these projects allow me to play with contrast and line work in ways I cannot always do with a face.

The Ballpoint Pen Difference

Most of my work relies on graphite and charcoal, which are forgiving mediums. When I work with a ballpoint pen, it is high stakes—one wrong line and the piece is ruined. This forces me to be incredibly deliberate with every stroke. The result, however, is a deep, ink-like darkness that holds a unique three-dimensional quality, perfect for characters that need a gritty or glossy finish.

Customizing Your Art

If you are looking for something that is not a traditional family or celebrity portrait, I am open to discussing it. I have done work ranging from fan art and anime sketches to abstract concepts.

What to expect for custom non-portrait work:

• Medium Selection: We will discuss whether your idea suits the smooth flow of ink, the depth of charcoal, or the precision of graphite.
• Reference Material: Even for conceptual work, having a clear reference or a solid description helps me get the structure right before I put the pen to paper.
• Timeline: Just like my portraits, these custom pieces take time. I typically need 4 to 7 days for creation, as I focus heavily on getting the shading and texture right.
