Portrait Henna Workshop in Bengaluru
I teach you how to draw faces, deities, and figures on skin. We start with paper sketches and move to real application so you can create art that tells a story.
A full arm design telling a complete story, combining multiple portrait scenes. This is an example of the complex compositions you can learn to master in my advanced workshops.
Learn to create divine figures with grace and detail. This Ganesha portrait on the forearm is a popular request, and I teach the specific techniques to make it stand out.
This design shows how a portrait on the palm can be beautifully integrated with more traditional patterns flowing up the arm. We explore how to balance different elements in my classes.
Our journey into portraiture starts with sketches like this one. This practice piece shows a classic royal couple on an elephant, allowing students to master the shapes and proportions on paper first.
A closer look at the details in our practice sketches. This video highlights the intricate line work and shading we practice before applying these designs with a henna cone.
About Portrait Henna Workshop
We don't jump straight to skin. In my classes, we start with intensive paper sketching to master the anatomy of a face or the curves of a deity, ensuring you get the proportions right before picking up a cone. This process takes patience, but it guarantees that when you finally draw on skin, your lines are confident and your portraits look like the real thing.
Mastering the Art of Storytelling on Skin
Portrait henna is special because it turns a design into a memory. Whether it is a bride and groom on their wedding day, a Ganesha figure, or a pet portrait, these designs are about capturing an emotion. My Portrait Henna Workshop is designed to take you from a basic artist to a storyteller.
The Workshop Process
We keep the groups small, 3 to 5 students at most, so I can give you my full attention. We work through a 7 to 10 day module where we focus on:
- Anatomy & Proportion: We start with paper practice to understand how to translate real-life photos into henna sketches. You will learn to map out eyes, noses, and lips without distortion.
- Pressure Control: Using ultra-fine, needle-tip cones requires a different touch. I will teach you the 'lift and drag' techniques needed for delicate detailing.
- 3D Shading: You will learn how to use pressure to create light and shadow, giving your figures depth and realism.
- Storytelling: How to combine figures with traditional patterns, flowers, and vines so the portrait feels integrated and not just floating on the skin.
Why Start Here?
If you have already finished a basic or bridal course, this is your next step. We move swalpa swalpa (little by little) from simple sketches to complex compositions. It takes time, but seeing a face come to life under your cone is a feeling like no other. ❤️✨
