About Heavy Silks Ready to Wear

When you bring me a heavy Pattu or Banarasi silk, I do not just fold it. I use a steam-pressing technique that relaxes the fabric fibers just enough to hold a sharp pleat without flattening the intricate zari work. I finish with rust-proof pinning to secure the pallu and center pleats so they do not shift once you start walking. It stays exactly how I set it, even after hours of wear.

Heavy silk sarees like Kanjivarams, Pattu, or intricate Banarasi brocades are beautiful, but they can be a challenge to drape perfectly. The fabric is often stiff, the zari is heavy, and getting the pallu to sit at the right angle can take 20 minutes of frustration on a busy day.

My Process

I customize the drape to your specific height. I measure your waist and fall length so the pleats do not trip you up and the pallu sits at the perfect angle on your shoulder.

The Box Fold Advantage

If you are traveling for a wedding or an event, I offer box-folding. I condense the entire 6-yard pre-pleated saree into a compact 12x14 inch box shape. This ensures the pleats remain crisp inside your suitcase, so when you reach your destination, you do not need to hunt for an iron or a professional draper. Just pull it out, wrap it around, and secure it. It turns a 30-minute ordeal into a 3-minute task.

Hanger Delivery

If you are not traveling, I provide hanger delivery. The saree stays on a wide-shouldered hanger in a dust-proof cover, keeping the pleats intact until you need to wear it. Whether you are prepping for a Muhurtham, a reception, or a festival like Varamahalakshmi, the goal is the same: you should look and feel comfortable in your silk, not constrained by it.
