This gives you those sharp, clean lines for the superheroes or princesses you see in the gallery, but the cake remains soft, moist, and tastes like a proper dessert rather than a solid block of sugar.
When you choose a theme for your child's birthday, the last thing you want is a cake that looks good but sits untouched on the plate. My approach is to marry visual storytelling with serious flavour. Why I avoid heavy fondant
I use fondant only for the fun bits, like hand-sculpted figurines of your child’s favourite characters or specific 2D cutouts. The actual cake is covered in high-quality Belgian chocolate ganache. This means you don't have to peel off a thick, sugary layer before serving. It is a cleaner look that allows for finer detailing, from the sand on a Moana cake to the scales on a dinosaur, all while keeping the sponge moist and the flavour profile rich.
