About First Birthday Cakesmash
Many parents worry about the cleanup, but I handle all of that, including the messy cake bits and the splash session after. You just bring your baby, their excitement, and the cake—we provide the studio outfits, the props, and the professional lighting to ensure we catch those honest, wide-eyed expressions before they get sleepy.
A cakesmash session is more than just photos of a baby with frosting on their face. It is about capturing that split second of curiosity as they touch the cake for the first time, the giggles, and even the moments when they decide they have had enough.
The Setup
I operate out of my studio in HSR Layout, which is fully equipped with over 100 creative themes. Whether you want a nautical voyage, a rustic cowboy adventure, or a classic traditional setup with wooden toys, we have the props ready. My packages include everything from the wardrobe—like rompers and tutu skirts—to the professional studio lighting, so you do not need to worry about anything except your baby's comfort.
How the Session Works
- The Portraits: We start with clean family portraits or solo shots to capture your baby before things get messy.
- The Smash: This is the main event. We bring in the cake, let your little one explore the textures, and snap photos of the delightful chaos that follows.
- The Splash: Once the cake is smashed, we move to a warm tub for a bath session. It is the perfect way to clean up and get those adorable, bubbly expressions.
Practical Details
We understand that babies can be unpredictable. That is why I always have an assistant on-site to help with safety and lighting, allowing me to focus entirely on capturing the right moment. Because of safety and allergy standards, I ask that parents bring their own cake, but I take care of the cleanup and the props. If you want to include siblings or parents, we have specific packages that allow for family shots as well. My goal is to ensure you walk away with photos that feel genuine to your child's personality.
