We prioritize daylight through double-height volumes and open-concept layouts to create homes that feel expansive, calm, and naturally bright.

The family lounge in 'The Garden House' is flooded with natural light from double-height windows. The open-riser staircase maintains an unobstructed view and enhances the sense of spaciousness.

This perspective shows the connection between the living area, the upper floor, and the outdoors. The design uses a neutral palette and natural materials to complement the abundant light.

The dining area is situated within a soaring double-height space, with fluted wall paneling adding texture and grandeur. A metal screen provides a subtle division from the living area without blocking light.

About Contemporary Living & Natural Light

In our latest residential work, we address the common challenge of dark interiors by integrating double-height voids and central skylights that pull daylight deep into the floor plan. This isn't just about installing larger windows; it’s about aligning the floor layout with the sun’s path, ensuring that living areas remain naturally bright throughout the day while using fluted wall panels and glass screens to maintain privacy without sacrificing that airy sense of openness.

The drawing room of the Sobti Residence is characterized by a striking double-height volume. Abundant natural light enhances the openness of the space, while a floating wood-and-glass staircase adds architectural elegance.24

The double-height space in the Screen House links the ground floor drawing room with the upper family lounge. This vertical connection allows natural light to flow throughout the home, enhancing the sense of openness and interaction across levels.
In the Slender House, the main brief was to maintain connection between family members. I designed an inward-looking structure with spaces interconnected via a central, light-filled courtyard, as seen in this view from the upper level.

This is the master bedroom from our "Yūgen House" project, designed as a minimal haven. We used a palette of white and warm wood, with fluted wall panels and simple, elegant furniture to create a sense of calm. The design focuses on maximizing natural light and airflow for a serene living experience.5

This bedroom in our Krishna Vilas project blends modern and classical elements. The highlight is the folding glass wall that opens up completely to a private balcony, blurring the line between indoors and outdoors. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a morning cup of tea with an uninterrupted view.

Looking down from the second-floor gallery, you can appreciate the scale of this open-concept home. The spiral chandelier cascades through the double-height void, connecting the upper and lower levels into one cohesive, light-filled space.7
This wide view shows how we create distinct zones within a large, open-plan living area. The polished marble floors run throughout, unifying the space, while furniture arrangement and architectural details like the curved staircase define different functional areas.
An exposed brick wall adds texture and warmth to this double-height space. The glass-paneled walkway on the upper level maintains an open and airy feel, allowing light to travel freely while connecting different parts of the home.
We installed floor-to-ceiling sheer curtains in this double-height room to manage the abundant natural light. This feature adds a touch of softness and drama while emphasizing the impressive scale of the windows and the height of the space.
