Community, Culture & Traditional Festivals at Our Heritage Retreat
Wellness at Ayurvedagram extends beyond our treatment rooms. We believe that true rejuvenation is deeply connected to shared joy, which is why we honor traditional festivals like Onam and Vishu with the same care we apply to our therapies.
Happy Onam! We celebrate the rich traditions of Kerala with cultural performances, including the 'Pulikali' (tiger dance), bringing energy and festive cheer to our campus.
A depiction of the Onam story with performers representing King Mahabali and Vamana. These cultural performances are an integral part of our celebrations, connecting our guests to the stories behind the festival.
The powerful rhythm of the 'Chenda Melam' (traditional percussion ensemble) fills the air during our Onam festivities. The sound is invigorating and central to Kerala's cultural celebrations.
A staff member carefully creates a 'Pookalam', a traditional floral carpet, for Onam. The intricate design and vibrant colors symbolize prosperity, harmony, and a warm welcome to all.

A glimpse of our Vishu celebrations, marking the Malayalam New Year. The 'Vishukkani' arrangement, with its auspicious items, is the first thing seen in the morning to bring prosperity for the year ahead.
A beautiful painting of Lord Krishna, adorned with flowers, as part of our Vishukkani. This ritual is central to our Vishu celebration, symbolizing a year of abundance, hope, and divine blessings.
Guests and staff join in prayer during our Varamahalakshmi Vrata celebration. This festival, dedicated to the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, fills our center with devotion and positive energy.

Celebrating World Earth Day by planting a healing Malabar Nut plant (Adalodakam). Our doctors and staff come together to honor our connection to Mother Earth and our commitment to a greener planet.
About Community, Culture & Celebrations
Joining us for these celebrations offers more than just a break, as it provides a rare sense of belonging in the heart of Whitefield. Whether it is the rhythmic beats of the Chenda Melam during Onam or the quiet, auspicious reflection of Vishu, these moments connect you to the living traditions of Kerala. Our guests often tell us that participating in these communal rituals is where they finally let go of the city rush and feel truly grounded, transforming their stay from a clinical visit into a meaningful homecoming.
Our Heritage Campus: A Space for Connection
Set across 13 acres, our campus is more than just a healing center; it is a space designed to mimic the tranquil life of a traditional Kerala village. When we brought ancestral homes like the Aranmula Palace here, we did not just relocate wood and stone. We relocated a way of life that values community, rhythm, and seasonal awareness.
Traditional Festivals We Observe
Our calendar is punctuated by the festivals that define the Kerala spirit. These are not merely events but essential parts of the healing journey we provide:
- Onam: A vibrant celebration of harvest and togetherness. Guests and staff come together to create intricate Pookalams (floral carpets), enjoy the traditional Onam Sadya feast, and experience performances like the Pulikali tiger dance. The powerful sound of the Chenda Melam percussion ensemble is a highlight that lifts the spirit of every guest.
- Vishu: Marking the Malayalam New Year, this festival focuses on abundance and prosperity. We arrange the Vishukkani, the first sight of the day, to bring positivity and clarity for the year ahead. It is a quiet, meditative start to the year in our lush garden setting.
- Varamahalakshmi Vrata: A day dedicated to devotion and collective prayer, bringing families and fellow guests into a shared space of gratitude.
Community & Sustainability
We also believe that healing is a responsibility we share with the Earth. On World Earth Day, our team and guests join hands to plant medicinal herbs like the Malabar Nut, reinforcing our philosophy that nature nurtures us only when we nurture it in return. This community spirit ensures that your time at Ayurvedagram is not an isolated experience, but an invitation to be part of a larger, living tradition. Whether you are here for a deep-tissue treatment or a quiet monsoon retreat, you are welcome to participate in the rituals that make our village whole.
