Wisdom for Modern Life: Finding Balance Today
You have seen the clips, but what does it mean to live yoga? Explore how ancient philosophies translate into a focused, calm, and purposeful life, even amidst the chaos of our fast-paced city routine.
In this TV interview, I share my advice for the youth on how to integrate the four paths of yoga into a busy, modern life for greater focus and success.
How do you make yoga the foundation of your life? I discuss the principle of balance, using Swami Sivananda's formula for integrating Karma, Raja, Bhakti, and Jnana yoga.
I explain how yoga acts as both a superior and inferior doctor. It not only helps heal existing ailments but, more importantly, prevents illness by building physical and mental resilience.
Here I share my origin story on DD News. My journey into yoga was inspired by Swami Vivekananda and driven by a desire to serve, starting with my own parents' health challenges.
Practice and dedication are key. Here I demonstrate an arm balance by the river, a result of consistent hard work and faith. Anything is possible with perseverance.
About Wisdom for Modern Life
I do not believe in separating yoga from your daily grind. In these videos, you will hear about my 14-hour routine: 10 hours of honest work, 2 hours of self-care, and intentional time for learning and prayer. This is not just about asanas on a mat, but how you show up at your job or in your relationships. It is about building a foundation that helps you stay calm and focused, whether you are managing a business in Gurgaon or navigating a high-pressure corporate role.
Yoga is often misunderstood as just physical exercise. In my teachings, I focus on the four pillars that define a yogic life: Karma Yog (work), Rajyog (mind/body), Gyan Yog (learning), and Bhakti Yog (spirituality). My approach adapts these ancient principles to your specific context.
Why Practice This Way?
Many of my students come to me with stress, anxiety, or physical ailments like hypertension. I teach them that yoga acts as both a superior and inferior doctor. The inferior doctor treats you after you fall sick, but the superior doctor ensures you stay healthy. By integrating these four paths, you prevent burnout and build resilience against the curveballs life throws at you.
Living the Practice
Whether you are a student or a working professional, you need a routine. I emphasize the importance of daily discipline. When you visit my studio in Gurgaon or join a retreat in Rishikesh, we do not just practice poses. We discuss how to apply these concepts to your family life, your professional ethics, and your personal growth.
How to Begin
- Attend a Workshop: We hold regular sessions on philosophy and meditation that go beyond the mat.
- Join a Retreat: Step out of the city and immerse yourself in nature to reset your patterns.
- Start Small: Even an hour of dedicated practice can shift your perspective.
Yoga is for everyone who wants to lead a life of purpose. It is not about escaping reality, but gaining the clarity to live it fully.
