About Candid Kid Portraits
During these sessions, I intentionally avoid rigid instructions or 'say cheese' moments. Instead, I use subtle prompts or simple play, like games or exploring, to elicit genuine expressions. This keeps the child relaxed, ensures they enjoy the experience, and guarantees the resulting photos actually look like your child, not a stiff version of them.
My approach to kid photography is simple: let them be kids. A studio with bright lights and a stranger telling them to stay still is the fastest way to get a fake smile. My sessions are designed differently. Whether we are in an Indirapuram park, at your home in South Delhi, or a garden in Jaipur, the environment becomes their playground.
We typically spend 1 to 2 hours together. This duration is intentional because it allows the child to warm up to me, settle into the environment, and eventually forget that a camera is around. We can do indoor sessions with creative setups or outdoor shoots that utilize natural light.
Regarding the process:
- Preparation: I provide guidance on what outfits work best, but I prefer comfortable clothes that let them run and jump.
- The Session: I bring along props, such as vintage wooden toys, bubbles, or balloons, to keep the energy playful. The focus is 80% on the child, with room for a few family portraits if desired.
- Editing: I personally handle all post-processing. My edits focus on natural light, color correction, and subtle touch-ups. I do not do heavy skin retouching or body reshaping. You get real, high-resolution files that represent your child as they are today.
