Memorial and Tribute Portraits
Honoring someone you love is a deeply personal journey. I create hand-drawn graphite tributes to keep their memory close, even when working from old, faded, or low-resolution photographs.
A finished memorial portrait, recreated from a vintage photograph. My goal is to preserve the subject's character and create a timeless piece that the family can cherish forever.
A family gathers around the memorial portrait of their loved one. It is a profound honor to create art that brings families together to celebrate a life.
A closer shot of the family with the portrait. These moments of remembrance are the reason I pour my heart into my work.
The emotional moment of unveiling a memorial portrait. Art has a unique power to evoke memories and emotions, and I am humbled to be a part of that.

About this collection
Dealing with old or blurry reference photos is the most critical part of my work. Because I do not rely on digital filters, I spend the first few days simply studying the facial structure and light in your source images to rebuild details that time may have erased. This reconstruction phase is what makes the final sketch look like the person you remember, rather than just a drawing of a photo.
When you reach out for a memorial piece, we start by looking at what you have. Often, clients come to me with a single, damaged, or small photograph that is all they have left of a loved one. I take this responsibility seriously. Creating these tributes requires between 40 and 75+ hours of intense, focused work on archival paper.
My Process for Tributes
- Restoration through Sketching: I don't just copy the image. I use graphite and charcoal to rebuild features, blending my understanding of human anatomy to ensure the expression is natural.
- Composite Art: Many families want to see loved ones together who were never photographed in the same frame. I can merge separate images into a single, cohesive composition. This is a common request for memorial work, and I ensure the lighting and perspective match so the final drawing looks like a real moment in time.
- Materials: I use only professional tools like Staedtler pencils and thick, 300gsm Ivory paper. These materials ensure the portrait lasts for generations.
This is not just about drawing; it is about bringing a memory to life. Whether you are looking to honor a parent, a partner, or a grandparent, I approach every stroke with the care it deserves. Once the drawing is complete, I apply a fixative spray to prevent smudging and frame it in a high-quality wooden frame, ready for you to display at home.
