I believe that creating a portrait to honor a memory is a responsibility I take very seriously. These pieces are more than just likenesses; they are a way to celebrate a life and keep a memory alive through detailed, hand-painted digital art.

A tribute drawing I made for Sushant Singh Rajput. This collage combines several of his iconic roles and moments into one piece to celebrate his journey and talent.

This is the colored version of my tribute to nurses. I wanted to use color to bring a sense of life and hope to the image, honoring the real-world heroes who care for us.

I dedicate this drawing to all the nurses, especially during challenging times. This artwork is a tribute to their hard work and compassion, portraying them as the fine artists of healing that they are.

A portrait of Sushant Singh Rajput, created as a memorial piece. Art can be a powerful way to remember someone, and I was honored to draw this by special request.

A close-up of the eyes from my tribute to nurses. The eyes are the only visible feature, and I wanted them to convey a sense of calm, strength, and empathy.

About Tribute & Memorial Portraits

I treat every memorial commission as a custom, hand-painted artwork, not a filter-based process. Since I spend between 30 and 100 hours on these, the focus is on capturing the genuine expression—the eyes, the smile, or the specific way light falls—to make the piece feel truly personal. If you have a photograph that holds special meaning, we can discuss how to translate that into a high-resolution, archival-quality digital portrait.

My Approach to Memorial Art

When I work on a tribute, my goal is not just to copy a photograph. I look for the small details that define a person—a specific tilt of the head, the way they hold their eyes, or a subtle smile. Because I use a Wacom tablet and Photoshop to paint every stroke by hand, I have the freedom to enhance the mood and lighting, making the final piece feel warm and respectful rather than just a reproduction of a snapshot.

The Process

  • Consultation: We start by looking at your available photos. High-resolution images are great, but even if the original photo is older or less clear, I can often work with the details provided to build a lifelike portrait.
  • Hand-Painted Detailing: I do not use AI or auto-generation. Every pore, skin texture, and shadow is rendered manually. This is why a single portrait can take me anywhere from 30 to over 100 hours. This time allows me to focus on the textures that make someone recognizable.
  • Final Deliverables: You receive a high-resolution digital file at 300 DPI, perfect for printing on archival paper or canvas. This file is yours to keep and print whenever you need, in sizes up to A1 for larger tributes.

Monochrome vs. Color

For memorial pieces, I often recommend my signature black-and-white style. It strips away the distraction of color, which helps focus entirely on the emotion and the form of the subject. However, if you prefer a full-color portrait, I can create that too, focusing on subtle skin tones and realistic lighting to capture a vibrant, true-to-life look.

I’m Agantuk, and I’ve spent the last 8 years glued to my Wacom, finding stories in pixels. For me, a tribute or memorial portrait isn’t just about the lines and shading; it’s about capturing the person as you remember them. I take my time with these, because I know how much it means to have an honest, hand-painted record of a memory.
