I paint these pieces in reverse to capture light and depth. Each glass painting is a small, vibrant window into devotion, perfect for bringing a gentle glow to your desk or shelf.

This glass painting of baby Krishna appears to change colour when held against the sky, showcasing the medium's unique properties.

About Luminous Glass Paintings

I paint these pieces in reverse—starting with the fine details and finishing with the base colours. This technique means the artwork is painted on the back of the clear acrylic or glass, creating a unique, luminous effect when it catches the light. Because I use high-gloss paints on these transparent surfaces, they are ideal for tabletop displays where they can catch the sunlight and interact with the environment around them.

The Process: Painting in Reverse

Unlike canvas work, glass painting requires me to think backwards. I apply the details first—like the eyes of a deity or the delicate jewelry—and then layer the colours behind them. This process is meditative for me. When you look at the final piece, the smoothness of the glass gives the colours a vivid, saturated quality that canvas simply cannot replicate.

Why Acrylic Sheets?

For these commissions, I typically use high-clarity acrylic sheets instead of traditional glass. They are much safer and unbreakable, which makes them perfect for shipping across India. You get that same glossy, high-end look, but without the worry of damage during transit. These pieces are intended for tabletop display rather than wall mounting, so they come ready to be placed on a small wooden easel.

Customizing Your Piece

While Radha Krishna themes are my most requested subjects, I can translate almost any high-contrast image into this style. Anime figures, minimalist portraits, or simple spiritual symbols work exceptionally well because the transparency allows the light to highlight the outlines. If you have a specific photo you want me to interpret, share it with me, and we can discuss how it will look once the light shines through the glass.

Care Instructions

Because the paint is applied on the reverse side, the surface you touch is the smooth, protective layer of the acrylic. This makes them very easy to clean—just a gentle wipe with a soft, dry cloth keeps them luminous. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubs, as they can cloud the clear surface.

Hi, I’m Karishma. For me, painting on glass is like catching a little bit of light and trapping it in a frame. Whether it’s Radha Krishna or a portrait you love, I paint these with full devotion, hoping they bring the same calm to your home that they bring to me.
