About More Than Garlands: Kaleeras, Bouquets & Special Items
Preservation involves more than just pouring resin. For kaleeras and thick bridal bouquets, I use a silica sand dehydration process that can take up to four weeks. This draws out moisture slowly, which is the only way to ensure your flowers keep their natural shape instead of flattening out or rotting inside the frame.
When you want to save items beyond the standard varmala, the technical process changes. My deep teakwood frames, available in 12x12 or 14x14 inch sizes, are built with a 3-inch depth to accommodate bulky keepsakes like kaleeras, full rose blooms, and even folded handwritten letters.
Standard thin frames cannot hold these items, and using poor-quality resin with organic material will lead to yellowing or decay. I use professional, non-yellowing epoxy to ensure the piece stays clear for years. Whether you have a delicate Shiksha Patrika, a heavy set of kaleeras, or a cherished bouquet, every item is treated individually.
You will need to ship your items carefully to my studio in Delhi. Once they arrive, I check the structural integrity of the flowers and share the proposed layout before the final pour. Because these custom pieces are thicker and require careful dehydration, the creation time is longer than standard frames, but this is the only way to ensure your precious keepsakes remain a beautiful, structural heirloom for your home.
