Chic Cafes and Welcoming Lobbies
We design spaces where the first impression counts, whether it is a heritage cafe in Alibaug or a high-end apartment lobby in Mumbai. Our focus is on creating environments that balance quiet luxury with a warm, welcoming narrative.
This is a 250-year-old heritage home I am restoring into a cafe in Alibaug. The design blends rustic charm with modern sensibility, using exposed wooden rafters, warm lighting, and natural materials to create a cozy, inviting space for coffee lovers.
An intimate nook within the Alibaug cafe, designed to evoke calm and warmth. The earthy tones of the plaster walls, paired with soft lighting and natural wood furniture, invite guests to sit back and feel at home.
The serene veranda of the cafe is one of my favorite spaces. The warmth of the wooden ceiling and railings, combined with vintage-style lighting and patterned floor tiles, creates a tranquil setting to enjoy the lush views.
A reception space designed with clarity and contrast. The bold, veined marble of the desk makes a strong statement against the warm timber tones, while the sculptural lighting above adds rhythm and visual balance to this refined entry.
This apartment lobby is a statement of quiet luxury. The double-height space is grounded by a dramatic marble reception desk and complemented by warm wood ceilings and lush greenery, creating a balanced and elevated arrival experience.
The entrance to this lobby is designed like a story, with a clear focal point. The bold black marble pillars frame the view into the bright, welcoming space, while lush planters soften the modern architecture.
Inside the lobby, a comfortable waiting area is created with a plush white sofa and minimalist armchair. The space is defined by the contrast between the dark marble pillar, the light marble desk, and the warm wood-slatted ceiling.
Another view of the lobby, showing the seamless connection between the entrance, the waiting area, and the private parking visible through a glass wall. The design uses a careful selection of materials to create a cohesive and luxurious narrative.
About Chic Cafes & Welcoming Lobbies
When we design a lobby or a cafe, we do not just pick materials for how they look. We observe how light hits the marble at four in the afternoon or how the wood texture feels when someone rests their hand on a reception desk. It is about creating a sensory experience that grounds people the moment they walk through the door.
Whether we are restoring a 250-year-old cafe in Alibaug or crafting a lobby for a new apartment building in Mumbai, the goal remains the same: creating a strong sense of arrival.
Heritage restoration is not just about keeping the old structure intact. In our Alibaug project, it meant respecting the exposed rafters and the original floor plan while introducing enough modern comfort to make the space usable for today's visitors. It is a balancing act of honoring the history of the house while ensuring it functions as a functional public space.
For residential and commercial lobbies, we move away from the cold, sterile entrances often seen in city apartments. We believe a lobby should be the handshake of the home. We use natural materials like marble and walnut wood, placing them in ways that catch natural light. By focusing on lighting that warms a space rather than flooding it, we create an atmosphere of quiet comfort.
If you have a hospitality project or a building entrance that needs a distinct identity, we are happy to help you figure out the material palette and the spatial flow. We can discuss your goals and how to bring a specific mood to your project.
