Festive and Thematic Dance Specials for TV Sets
From high-energy Holi sequences to intense mythological performances, I create choreography that brings festive moments to life. Let’s make your next episode a visual treat.
Behind the scenes of a colorful Holi sequence for 'Sadhi Mansa' on Star Pravah. My job is to manage the beautiful chaos of festive shoots and deliver a dance that captures the spirit of the celebration.
Choreographing a Mahashivratri special featuring a Shiv Tandav performance for 'Yed Laagla Premacha'. These thematic dances require a deep understanding of the story and culture to create an authentic and impactful visual.
On set for a Valentine's Day themed episode of 'Premleela'. The set is decorated with red and pink, and my choreography is designed to match the romantic and celebratory mood of the sequence.
Directing a dance sequence for a 'Maha Sangam' episode on Star Pravah. We shot this outdoors in the rain, which shows my team's and my ability to adapt to challenging conditions and still deliver a great performance.
About Festive & Thematic Specials
Festive shooting days are all about beautiful chaos, and I love every minute of it. When you are on a tight production schedule for a special episode, the last thing you need is stress about steps. My role is to simplify the movement so actors can focus on their performance, expression, and the scene, rather than worrying about complex counts.
On a daily soap set, time is the one luxury we don't have. Whether we are filming a Holi splash, a grand Ganpati arrival, or a heavy mythological Shiv Tandav, the choreography needs to be ready, executed, and camera-perfect in minutes, not hours.
How I Approach Thematic Specials
- Story-Driven Movement: It is not just about the steps. For thematic episodes, I ensure the dance conveys the character's journey. A Shiv Tandav needs power and posture, while a romantic Valentine's track needs chemistry and soft, flowing movements. I tailor the technique to the genre.
- Prop & Formation Management: From managing heavy props like Trishuls and Thalis to coordinating large groups of background artists, I handle the technicalities so the director doesn't have to.
- Adaptability: Wet sets, crowded frames, or tight indoor spaces? I adjust formations on the fly. If the floor is slippery or the costume is heavy, we adapt the choreography instantly to keep the actor safe and the performance graceful.
- Actor-Friendly Direction: Most actors are not professional dancers, and that is absolutely fine. My job is to find the rhythm in their natural movement. We focus on lip-sync, facial expression, and confidence. When an actor stops counting steps and starts feeling the music, the camera catches it immediately.
I have worked extensively with channels like Star Pravah and Dangal TV to bring these moments to life. If you have an upcoming festive episode or a Maha Sangam track that needs that extra spark, I am ready to jump in. Let's make something impactful, efficient, and fun. Bas, aa jao!
