Mentorship for Emerging Fashion Designers
Launching a brand is hard work, but you don't have to figure it all out alone. I help design students and new labels turn raw creative energy into market-ready collections. Let's make it happen.
Judging the final collections of students at the Janki Devi Vocational Centre. This design showcases a good understanding of draping and construction. My role is to provide constructive feedback on both creative and technical skills.
Here I am with another student's creation, a fusion piece combining a structured corset with a draped skirt. I love seeing how young designers experiment with different silhouettes and materials to create something unique.
About Mentorship for Emerging Designers
When we sit for a session, don't just bring pretty sketches. Bring your fabric swatches, your cost sheets, and the specific roadblocks you're hitting with your pattern masters. My goal isn't just to critique your vision; it's to fix the technical gaps—like fabric weight versus drape or embroidery cost engineering—so you can actually sell what you design.
Transitioning from a design student to a professional with a functional label is the biggest hurdle in this industry. At my Hauz Khas Village studio, I strip away the fluff to focus on the business of fashion.
What We Cover in a Session
- Market Viability: We look at your sketches and ask the hard questions: Who is the customer? Is this production-friendly? We align your creative spark with what customers actually want to buy.
- Technical Guidance: Whether it's choosing between raw silk or georgette, or deciding on the right embroidery standard to keep costs lean, I guide you on the technicalities that often make or break a profit margin.
- Strategy & Positioning: We discuss your brand identity. Are you focusing on bridal, fusion, or streetwear? We define your path so you don't waste time chasing trends that don't fit your aesthetic.
My Philosophy
I believe in mentorship that is practical. I've been there—from my days at NIFT New Delhi to working with top celebrities like Neha Dhupia and Shraddha Kapoor. I know the effort required to make an impact. I don't just offer advice; I offer a roadmap based on my experience in styling, design, and even judging at major Indian fashion weeks.
Why Book a Session?
If you are feeling stuck with your portfolio, struggling to source the right materials, or just need an objective, professional eye on your collection before a big showcase, let's talk. We'll grab some tea, review your work, and figure out how to get you to the next level. Let's embrace your uniqueness and get your brand ready for the runway.
