Vibrant Acrylic Paintings

I use heavy-body acrylics to turn your favorite photos into colorful, long-lasting art that brings a different energy to your space.

This video shows my process for creating a portrait with acrylics. I build up colors in layers, starting with the skin tones and then moving to the clothes and background to create a vibrant and lively painting.

About Vibrant Acrylic Paintings

Unlike my graphite sketches, these acrylic pieces are built in layers to give them depth and a vibrant finish. Because I use heavy-body paints on 400 GSM paper, I need to let the paint dry thoroughly between layers to get the colors just right, which is why these take a bit longer to complete than my standard pencil drawings.

While I am best known for my graphite and charcoal portraits, there is something special about working with color. When you choose an acrylic painting, you get a piece that is hand-painted from start to finish. I work on a primed canvas pad or heavy-duty 400 GSM paper, ensuring the surface is sturdy enough to hold the paint without warping.

My process is straightforward. I map out the subject from your photo, then build up the skin tones, attire, and background in stages. The final step is crucial, which is applying a coat of gloss or matte varnish. This not only makes the colors pop but also protects the painting against UV fading and dust, making it a piece that stays bright on your wall for years.

Since this is not my main job, I take my time with every commission. I want the result to feel real and personal, whether it is a single portrait for your home or a bright, colorful gift for someone you care about. If you are looking for something that catches the eye and keeps the memory vivid, this is the style for you.
