Theatre Sound Design & Original Scores
Music isn't background noise. It is an actor on stage, setting the tension or the joy before a line is even spoken. Here is a look at my work composing, designing, and performing for some of Bengaluru’s most intense stage productions.
Here's a little jam session for 'Bali: The Sacrifice'. I co-composed this Kannada track, 'Hittina Hunja', with Vedanth Bharadwaj. For me, music in theatre is about getting to the heart of the story, and sometimes that means I'm right there, playing live to match the energy on stage.
The sound design for 'MEDEA' was a wild ride. The goal was to create something raw and intense that gets under your skin. This trailer gives you a feel for the dark, atmospheric world we built for this powerful Greek tragedy.
It was a real honor to handle the sound design for this production of 'MEDEA' at Jagriti Theatre. Working with such a talented team to bring this classic to life was an incredible experience.
Sometimes the music for a play takes on a life of its own. I was stoked to perform live for 'GRETEL', and even more so when we got to produce and release a full studio album of the score. You can now stream it on all major platforms.
This was part of the stage setup for 'MEDEA'. My job was to create a soundscape that felt as tangled and tense as these threads. Sound isn't just background noise; it's a physical presence in the room.
About Featured
The way I work isn't about applying generic effects to a scene. I start by sitting in on rehearsals, watching the movement, and jamming with directors to understand the emotional pulse of the story. Whether it is raw Foley work for a Greek tragedy or a full musical score for a new adaptation, I build sounds that the cast can actually feel and react to on stage.
My approach to theatre audio is split into three main ways I can help your production:
Atmospheric Sound Design This is about building the world the actors step into. I work with QLab or standard playback systems to create custom audio libraries, including atmospheric drones and foley, that match the specific energy of your play. We focus on script spotting to identify every emotional beat.
Original Score Composition If your production needs a musical identity, I compose and record themes specifically for your stage acoustics. This includes opening and interval music, plus internal underscores. I write using guitar, slide, and programmed backing, ensuring the mix is optimized for the theatre space, not just a pair of headphones.
Live On Stage Performance This is my favorite space. I perform live alongside the actors, reacting to their timing and improvising on tempo based on how the audience is feeling that night. It brings a level of dynamism to the storytelling that recorded tracks simply cannot replicate.
