Meet Moti, Our Head of Motivation
Meet the heart of Omjiujitsu. Moti, my Labrador, isn't just a gym mascot—he is here to keep spirits high, whether we are hitting bags or cooling down.
Here is part three of my MMA sparring sessions with Moti. He has incredible takedown defense and his cardio is endless. He never disappoints when it comes to motivation on a Monday morning.
Moti never backs down from a challenge. Here he is, stepping in to spar with a student, showing off his head movement and counter-punching skills. He makes sure no one is lazy during training.
This is what happens when Moti sees me working on the punching bag. He thinks it's a new toy and wants to join in on the boxing session. He's always ready to play.
A quick game of fetch is a standard part of our gym routine. Moti's energy is contagious and helps keep the atmosphere light and fun, even during tough workouts.
Even during quiet moments of meditation, Moti is always watching over me. He is the most loyal companion and a constant presence in the gym.
About Meet Moti, Our Head of Motivation
People ask if a dog belongs in a gym. Honestly, Moti is the best training partner I could ask for. He is here for every session, keeping the atmosphere light when the training gets intense. Whether he is 'sparring' with me or just hanging out during a circuit, he forces everyone to smile, even when their muscles are burning.
We don't do sterile, silent gym environments. At Omjiujitsu, the atmosphere is real, raw, and sometimes a bit chaotic. Moti is a huge part of that. Being a Labrador, his energy is infectious, which makes a massive difference when you are mid-session and struggling with a heavy circuit or long conditioning drill.
Why a dog in the gym?
Fitness can be serious business. We handle heavy stuff—tractor tires, sledgehammers, combat drills—but that does not mean we cannot enjoy the process. Moti helps us stay rooted. He is the first to greet you when you walk in and the first to remind you to take a breath when things get overwhelming.
The Community Vibe
Our gym in Sector 46 is a family-run setup. It is a residential garage conversion, so it is personal. Having Moti around creates a sense of safety and comfort, especially for our younger students and those new to martial arts. He is the unofficial Head of Motivation, and frankly, he is doing a better job at it than most human coaches. If you are coming in for MMA, Jiu-Jitsu, or just to get stronger, do not be surprised if your biggest challenge is keeping your focus while Moti tries to join your warm-up.
