About My Marathon Journey: Practice What I Preach
Marathon prep is about more than just logging miles. It is a calculated mix of interval training, functional strength, and recovery to prevent the injuries that often stop athletes mid-journey. When you train with me, I analyze your pacing and form, applying the same race-day discipline I use for my own runs at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to help you hit your personal best.
Many runners start by pushing their mileage too high, too fast. This is the quickest way to end up on the sidelines. My approach to marathon training is rooted in the same principles I used to compete at the National level. We focus on building a functional engine first.
My Training Approach
- Intervals and Agility: We use ladder work, cone drills, and high-intensity interval training to increase your speed and footwork coordination. It is not just about running; it is about moving efficiently.
- Injury Prevention: I incorporate bodyweight circuits and core strengthening into every session. A strong core supports your posture over long distances, which is vital when fatigue sets in at the 20km mark.
- Data-Driven Progress: Just as I track my own stats to shave seconds off my timing, we track yours. We look at your split times, your recovery heart rate, and your energy levels to decide when to push and when to scale back.
