Old walls have voices if you know how to listen. From the fading grandeur of Mughal architecture to the quiet shrines of Kathmandu, I document history as it lives, breathes, and slowly changes.

The magnificent facade of Safdarjung's Tomb, captured in the warm light of the golden hour. The sandstone and marble structure is a testament to the last phase of Mughal architecture in Delhi.

A short video tour of Isa Khan's Tomb in Delhi. The clip showcases the beautiful octagonal structure, its intricate details, a surprise appearance by a peacock, and me exploring the space.

A unique view of a traditional building in Kathmandu, Nepal. The frame captures a deity statue on the roof and a person looking out from a beautifully carved wooden window.

A close-up shot of the ornate marble carving on top of the cenotaph inside Safdarjung's Tomb. The elegant calligraphy and soft lighting highlight the delicate craftsmanship.

The detailed, multi-tiered roof of a traditional Newari pagoda in Kathmandu. The warm sunlight highlights the intricate wooden carvings against a brilliant blue sky.

A beautifully composed shot from inside Safdarjung's Tomb, looking out through a series of arches. The carved marble cenotaph is perfectly framed, creating a sense of depth and history.

A woman stands in the doorway of an ancient building in Kathmandu, surrounded by intricate brickwork and carved wooden windows. The shot blends portraiture with architectural documentation.

The Kaathe Swayambhu Shree Gha Chaitya stupa in Kathmandu, covered in pigeons. This site serves as a miniature replica for pilgrims who cannot visit the main Swayambhunath Temple.

A frontal view of Safdarjung's Tomb, showing its grand scale and symmetrical design. The two small figures at the bottom provide a sense of the monument's immense size.

A portrait of a pigeon perched atop a stone pillar at a Buddhist temple in Kathmandu. The colorful prayer flags in the background add a touch of vibrancy to the scene.

About Echoes of History: Delhi & Beyond

My approach to heritage photography isn't about perfectly posed shots; it's about catching the monument in its own rhythm. I prefer shooting during the golden hour or at dawn, using my Fujifilm gear to capture the interplay of light and shadow on weathered sandstone. You won't find artificial staging here, just the honest, atmospheric weight of these spaces as they stand today.

Capturing the Soul of Stone

Photography is a way for me to preserve the dialogue between the past and the present. When I visit sites like Safdarjung’s Tomb or the ancient alleys of Kathmandu, I’m not looking for postcards. I’m looking for the way light hits a crack in the wall, the silence of a courtyard, or the pigeons claiming an ancient pillar as their own. My goal is to capture the coexistence of beauty and decay, which tells a more honest story than any perfectly restored facade could.

My Process

  • Early Starts: For heritage sites, timing is everything. I highly recommend early morning sessions, ideally around 6:00 AM, when the light is soft and the crowds are thin. This allows us to focus on the architecture and the quiet details without the distractions of a busy city.
  • Equipment: I shoot primarily with my Fujifilm XT series cameras. The color science and portability allow me to move naturally through heritage sites and capture candid, documentary-style frames that feel intimate and authentic.
  • Perspective: I look for wide environmental shots that establish the scale of a monument, balanced with tight, bokeh-heavy portraits of architectural details like marble carvings or wooden window frames.

Locations & Beyond

While Delhi is my playground—from the dense layers of Old Delhi to the sprawling Mughal tombs—my work isn't limited by borders. I travel for stories, whether it's exploring the pagodas in Nepal or tracking historical landmarks across India. If you have a specific site in mind, let’s discuss how we can frame its history in a way that feels true to its legacy. Arz kiya hai, this journey of capturing life is what I live for.
