I spent 24 hours roaming Delhi, from the silent railway stations at midnight to the vibrant flower markets at dawn, to capture the city as it truly is—unscripted and alive.

00:07am: Cab drivers wait for passengers at a deserted railway station during a city lockdown. This image set the stage for a project documenting a city in a unique state of quiet.

01:23am: A father holds his young child inside a quiet metro station late at night. This black and white photo captures a tender moment amidst the usually bustling transit system.

03:02am: Travelers sleep on cardboard mats on a railway platform, a common sight during train delays. This overhead shot provides a poignant, documentary perspective on the realities of travel.

3:32am: In the early hours at the flower market, I capture another photographer taking a picture of a smiling female vendor. A meta-moment showing the intersection of life and documentation.

4:27am: Three men sit together in the pre-dawn hours, skillfully weaving vibrant marigold garlands for the morning temple rush. An intimate look at the unseen labor that fuels the city's spiritual life.

5:12am: Laborers at the flower market arrange bouquets of roses under the dim lights of early morning. The ground is scattered with petals, evidence of their hard work.

6:53am: A female artisan sits against a canvas backdrop, her hands expertly weaving garlands. The dramatic lighting highlights her focused expression and the delicate nature of her craft.

7:29am: Framed between colorful garlands, a woman in a yellow sari weaves flowers at the market. This shot uses a natural frame to draw the viewer's eye to her work.

12:43am: A man sleeps on the roof of his auto-rickshaw, a common sight for drivers who work through the night. This black and white image captures a moment of profound peace amidst the urban environment.

About 24-Hour Project: A Day in Delhi

If you appreciate imagery that captures the quiet dignity of a city before it wakes up, you understand the value of patience. I do not stage my shots, which means our sessions will rely on your natural comfort in front of the lens rather than heavy direction.

This project was a rigorous exercise in observation. Carrying my Fujifilm kit, I moved through Delhi's changing landscape, documenting the transition from the city's nightlife to its early morning industry. My approach to this project mirrors how I handle professional assignments: finding the intersection of light, shadow, and human connection.

Whether you are looking for a documentary essay of your own event, a personal portrait session, or commercial street photography, my process remains the same. I prioritize the candid, fleeting interactions that define a moment over polished, artificial poses. We can work in the chaos of Chandni Chowk or the quiet corners of Lodhi Colony, utilizing the city's natural textures to build a narrative that feels authentic to your story. My background in street photography means I am adept at navigating busy, public spaces without disrupting the scene, ensuring the final images feel lived-in and real.
