Multi-Prop Artistry & Flow Arts Practice in Bengaluru
Flow arts is where math meets motion. My practice explores the technical side of hoops, poi, and dapo to create patterns that are as intelligent as they are beautiful.
Welcome to Spinfinity, my project exploring the infinite connections between flow arts and mathematics. I use hoops, poi, dapo, and fans to challenge the boundaries between what is considered analytical and what is beautiful. This is my mission to revolutionize learning through flow, one spin at a time.
This is a regular twin hooping practice session on my terrace, a space I cherish. Working with two hoops at once enhances coordination and creates beautiful symmetrical patterns. It’s in these simple, everyday moments that I build the muscle memory for more complex double hoop choreography.
Breaking through a creator's block with a simple, joyful hoop dance in my room. Sometimes the best way to reconnect with creativity is to just move. This session was all about finding my flow again and enjoying the simple pleasure of dancing with my hoop.
Here’s my latest creation: the "no-mean-feet" weave with a poi. This trick was a fun challenge in coordination and balance, blending lower body dexterity with classic poi spinning. It’s a great example of how I love to experiment and push the boundaries of prop manipulation.
About Multi-Prop Artistry & Practice
I don't just spin for the sake of it; I treat every prop as an extension of physical principles. Whether it is the rotational inertia of a twin-hoop setup or the rhythmic geometry of poi, I am constantly analyzing how these tools interact with the body. This is not about perfectly polished choreography; it is about the deep dive into the mechanics of movement.
My journey with flow arts is effectively a long-term research project. I spent years in an engineering classroom, and it was only when I picked up a hoop that I truly started to understand topology and Hopf bifurcation. Moving from those abstract concepts to the physical reality of spinning poi or dapo allows me to turn dry data into visual storytelling.
When I am practicing in my terrace space in Bengaluru, I am not just drilling moves. I am working through the connection between the wobble of a hose pipe and waist hooping, or mapping climate change data onto pixel poi. If you are looking for a performance that feels mechanical, perfectly sanitized, and static, that is not me. I embrace the dropped prop, the wrist injury that changes a routine, and the raw, unpredictable nature of live flow.
My work is grounded in consistent practice. Whether I am teaching a beginner-friendly workshop or performing a high-intensity fire show, the foundation remains the same: understanding the weight, momentum, and potential of the tools in hand. I bring this same technical rigor to events in Bengaluru, helping audiences see that art can be analytical and science can be deeply, wildly aesthetic.
