Behind the Scenes: My Food Photography Process

See how I turn raw ingredients and simple props into visual stories using light, shadow, and careful styling.

This video reel is a compilation of moments from various shoots. It shows the diversity of my work, from setting up a pink backdrop for a product shoot to capturing drinks in an outdoor restaurant setting and styling food in my studio.

About this collection

I don't just point and shoot. You will often find me experimenting with light modifiers, adjusting prop placement, and tethering my camera to a laptop so we can preview the frame in real time. This is where the story gets built, layer by layer, before the shutter even clicks.

How I Build a Frame

Photography is more than an image. It is an exercise in capturing a vibe. When I am on location in Ahmedabad, whether at a restaurant or in my studio, the setup is where the magic happens.

The Setup: My process starts with a conversation about your brand. We talk about the mood. Do you want bright, airy café vibes or moody, dramatic restaurant lighting? Once we agree on the aesthetic, I bring in my props—backdrops, cutlery, and linens—to build the environment.

The Technical Side: For larger shoots, I use tethered shooting. This means my camera is connected to a laptop, allowing you to see exactly what I see on the screen. It is great for adjusting angles and plating while we shoot, ensuring we get the perfect shot without wasting time. I use a 2-point or 3-point professional strobe setup to mimic natural light or create shadows that add depth to the subject.

Collaborative Styling: I handle the styling myself. This involves plate cleaning, garnishing, and beverage refreshing to make sure the food looks fresh. I focus on the details that often go unnoticed, like the steam rising from a hot dish or the specific texture of a spice rub.

If you have a menu update or a product campaign in mind, I am here to help you translate your vision into frames that convert viewers into customers.
