Designing Sustainable Nature Retreats
Luxury is at its best when it feels at home in the wild. We blend grand architectural vision with the quiet rhythm of nature, using materials like bamboo and rammed earth to create sanctuaries that breathe.

About Sustainable Nature Retreats
Building in remote locations like Kanha requires more than just aesthetics; it demands a deep respect for topography. We approach these projects by studying wind patterns and solar orientation before a single wall is set, ensuring your retreat remains naturally cool and structurally integrated with the forest rather than fighting against it.
True sustainability in hospitality goes beyond eco-friendly labels; it is about how a structure ages within its environment. At Dev Villas in Kanha, our design strategy centered on vernacular integration. We utilized rammed earth and locally sourced bamboo not just for their visual appeal, but for their thermal performance, keeping interiors naturally cool despite the heat of the forest.
When designing these retreats, we prioritize the guest’s sense of arrival. A mountain or forest getaway should feel distinct from the city. We focus on low-impact architecture that minimizes ground disturbance, using stilts or tiered foundations where necessary. This ensures that the local wildlife and vegetation remain undisturbed.
Inside, the design language remains clean and minimalist. We avoid heavy, imposing structures, opting instead for large, open-air spaces that invite the outdoors in. Our reflected ceiling plans often incorporate wooden rafters or bamboo weaves, drawing the eye upward and emphasizing height and volume. From an operational standpoint, we ensure that service blocks, kitchens, and staff quarters are strategically placed to allow for seamless backend operations without interrupting the guest experience. Whether it is a luxury boutique resort or a sprawling eco-lodge, our focus remains on creating spaces that respect the site's history while offering the comfort today’s travelers expect.
