Exhibition Stalls and Immersive Set Designs

Design shouldn't be limited to permanent structures. I apply the same architectural rigour to temporary sets and exhibition stalls, ensuring every temporary space creates a lasting impression.

A glimpse of a Rajasthani-themed set I designed for a home decor brand. The space is rich with texture, intricate patterns, and warm lighting to create a cozy, traditional feel.

About this collection

Designing a temporary setup is like capturing a fleeting moment in stone. Whether I am sketching a Tetris-inspired exhibition stall or styling a photoshoot set, my focus remains on the 'touch of mud' and the tactile quality of the materials. I do not just put up boards; I create an immersive environment where the lighting, texture, and furniture work together to tell your brand story, even if the structure is only meant to stand for a few days.

Architecture in Motion

Many see exhibition stalls or photoshoot sets as disposable tasks. I see them as condensed architectural challenges. When I am designing a pop-up space, I am working with a tight timeline and the need for high-impact visual storytelling.

My process for these installations mirrors my work with permanent structures:

  • Concept & Storytelling: We start with the emotion you want to evoke. Is it playful, like the Tetris-inspired stall, or deeply traditional, like the Rajasthani-themed set? The concept dictates every material choice.
  • Material Selection: I refuse to use cheap, plastic-heavy exhibition materials. I prefer bamboo, raw wood, textured fabrics, and lighting that feels natural rather than artificial. If it is meant to represent your brand, it must feel authentic to the touch.
  • Lighting as Architecture: In a controlled environment like a studio or an expo hall, lighting is not an afterthought. I plan it as a structural element to guide the eye and highlight textures, ensuring your product or service stays the focal point.

Why Temporary Design Matters

The beauty of set design is that it allows us to experiment with forms that might be too radical for a home. We can be bolder with geometry and more aggressive with mood lighting. My goal is to make sure that whether it is for a brand launch or a media shoot, the space feels so complete that visitors forget they are standing in a temporary structure.

I’m Akshay. For me, design is that 'kulbulahat'—the restlessness to turn a blank space into a story. I get my hands dirty on site because I believe a great set needs the same artistic soul as a forever home.
