Martial Arts Training for Every Generation
At IWMA, martial arts is a lifelong journey. We create a supportive space where kids, adults, and seniors grow stronger and build discipline together.
Our dojang brings together students from all walks of life. This photo captures the essence of our community, with senior members training alongside our youngest junior practitioners, proving that strength and discipline have no age limit.
About A Community for All Ages
In our studio, you might see a senior student practicing Tai Chi while a child learns their first Taekwondo stance. This mix of ages is intentional because we believe everyone brings value to the mats. You do not need prior experience or specific athletic ability to start, as we tailor our guidance to your individual pace.
Martial arts is often misunderstood as a sport only for the young and fit. In my experience, the true benefit lies in the consistency of practice rather than peak physical dominance. Whether you are a student looking to channel energy or a senior aiming to improve balance and mobility, the goal is personal progress.
We train on professional Tatami mats in a semi-open rooftop setting in Vidyaranyapura. This environment allows us to focus on the basics of World Taekwondo, adhering to Kukkiwon standards, while keeping the atmosphere respectful and grounded. Classes are structured to ensure every student, regardless of age, learns the correct technique. We emphasize conditioning, flexibility, and forms, but the core of what we do is character building. You learn to respect yourself and your training partners, creating a cycle of mutual support that extends beyond our evening sessions.
For those just starting, the process begins with a simple evaluation. I assess your current fitness level and flexibility to ensure your training is safe and effective. We do not rush the process. Instead, we use the belt system to mark milestones, giving you clear goals to aim for. The quarterly belt cycles help maintain momentum, ensuring that you retain what you have learned and build muscle memory. Our community thrives because we leave egos at the door. When you step onto the mats in your uniform, you are here to learn, and that is a common ground that connects every person in this dojang.
