About Large-Scale Murals
My murals aren’t just décor - they’re my way of asking questions and starting conversations. Every wall is a chance to say something real, whether it’s about feminism, community, or just a bit of joy. For me, anbe sivam (love is God) isn’t just a saying, it’s how I paint.
What I Paint (and Why)
- I take on large-scale murals for homes, businesses, public spaces, and streets.
- Each mural is different - we talk, we plan, we figure out what story your wall wants to tell.
- From Tamil literature inspired murals like The Thinai Project, to feminist mural art in a kid’s bedroom, to a playful bougainvillea tree for a daycare, I love switching up style and theme.
- I’ve worked with families, kids, and whole communities. Sometimes volunteers join in, sometimes it’s just me and a brush.
My Process
- We start with a conversation - I’ll ask a lot of questions about your space and what matters to you.
- If you want something deep, I dig into research, especially for community-driven wall painting or pieces about social change.
- I work with whatever fits: acrylic, spray paint, even natural pigments if we can get them locally.
What To Expect
- My murals can be bold and loud, or quiet and traditional. Always personal, always with a story.
- Sometimes it gets messy, sometimes it’s slow going, and if your family wants to pitch in, that’s honestly the best part.
- Whether it’s your home, a restaurant, or a street wall, it’ll end up feeling like it belongs.

My Story
I’m Girija, words spill out of me - sometimes it’s just tears. My mind races, my body’s always catching up. Never had it easy, life’s a wild ride, but I’ve always had love. My sisters, my friends, my partner of 17 years, and my daughter - watched her grow from a tiny preemie to a fierce, kind adult. My mom was my first home, poured love into me. When it’s all too much, I run off to Tiruvannamalai, or float in a river. Water holds me. Still searching. Jai Bhim 💙
My Work
Murals, illustrations, and workshops - I make political mural art, book illustrations, portraits, and run gender violence art workshops.
Art as activism - My art starts tough conversations - about gender, child abuse, society. Truth is art for me.
Process over perfection - I let the paint lead, focus on energy and likeness. Expressive portrait painting, never just realism.
Art for NGOs and families - I work with NGOs, collectives, and make commissioned family art that lasts beyond us.
