About Upcycling & Thrifting Services
We’re just regular folks at Zero Waste, trying to bring back the old-school simplicity of our dadi-nani (grandparents) days. Our motto? Mera kachra, meri zimmedari. Climate change is happening all around us, but we believe real change starts with what’s in our own dustbins.
How Our Purana Baksa Works
Everyone’s got that “purana baksa” (old box) full of things that are too good to throw, but you don’t use anymore. Here’s what we do:
- You donate pre-loved clothes, accessories, books, kitchenware, even unused festive decorations.
- We sell these at eco-friendly thrift pop-ups at community events for a super minimal price.
- Money raised goes right back into city cleanups and community waste reduction events.
Upcycling Waste into Wonder
We go beyond just selling stuff. Our upcycled home decor workshops and DIY sessions show you how to turn waste into useful things:
- Learn how to make compost, natural cleaners, and rangoli colors from sacred flower recycling after poojas.
- Hands-on DIY: turn citrus peels into bio-enzymes, old newspapers into vendor bags, and more.
Get Involved
We’re a community effort and there’s always room for more hands. Donate your stuff, help out at a stall, or host a donation box at your shop or school. Hum sab milkar (all of us together) can really make a change—no perfection needed, just a little effort.

My Story
Our journey kicked off when I became a mom and started worrying about what kind of world my kid would inherit. Money’s one thing, but clean water and air? That’s real wealth. Sargam once found jeans and shoes dumped in a forest – crazy, right? That’s when Purana Baksa happened. We’re just a bunch of volunteers, moms, students, regular folks. We mess up sometimes, but we keep trying. Third Sunday, every month, we show up for our city and our kids.
