Building Our Yoga Kulam Community

We believe yoga is best practiced as a family, or 'kulam.' From our traditional opening ceremonies to our shared sattvic meals, this is how we grow together.

Sharing a meal is an important part of our community life. This video shows students and teachers enjoying a healthy, sattvic lunch together during our weekend YTTC in Bengaluru.

About this collection

Many students arrive here feeling nervous, wondering if they are 'ready' for a yoga training course. We focus on removing that barrier from day one. Whether we are in the quiet backwaters of Kerala or on a beach in Goa, our ceremonies are designed to make you feel like you have come home. When we share a meal or participate in a Havan fire ceremony, the goal is simple: to make sure you feel supported, safe, and truly part of this circle.

At YogaKulam, the term 'kulam' is not just a name, it is the foundation of our existence. We believe that true learning happens only when you feel safe, supported, and seen. That is why our opening ceremonies are not formal orientations, but rituals of connection.

Why Community Matters

When you join one of our programs, you are not just signing up for a curriculum. You are stepping into a circle of people who share the same intent to grow. We focus heavily on:

  • Inclusive Ceremonies: We use traditional Havan fire rituals and marigold garlands to ground the start of every course. These moments allow everyone, regardless of their background or yoga experience, to drop their guards and connect.
  • Shared Meals: Food is a huge part of our kulam. We eat sattvic vegetarian meals together community-style. It is often during these lunches that the deepest friendships are formed and the day’s lessons are truly processed.
  • Supportive Environment: We are known for repeating lessons, being patient, and offering modifications without hesitation. If you are struggling with a pose or a concept, you will find a teacher or a fellow student ready to help you.

We operate across serene locations in Kerala and Goa, specifically chosen for their ability to bring us closer to nature and each other. Whether you are here for a 200-hour teacher training or a wellness retreat, our promise is that you will leave with more than just a certificate. You will leave with a new family.
