From spine-chilling horror to mind-bending sci-fi, join our community sessions where we explore the techniques that make every genre unique. Whether you are a beginner or a pro, bring your notebook and your imagination.

For session #666, we just had to get diabolical. "Ink and Inferno" was a journey into writing about the devil across different genres, from classic horror and mythology to philosophical and comedic interpretations.

Just in time for the spooky season, this session was all about "Halloween Vibes." We shared prompts and ideas for writing ghost stories, monster tales, and psychological thrillers that capture the spirit of Halloween.

This epic session combined three powerful themes: War, Myth, and Apocalypse. Writers were prompted to create grand-scale stories of mythological battles, the end of the world, and the human struggles within them.

There's nothing quite like a story that gets under your skin. This "First Person Horror" workshop focused on using a close, intimate perspective to build dread and create a truly terrifying and immersive reader experience.

This session was a deep dive into "Writing a Tragedy." We studied the classic elements of tragic storytelling, from the flawed hero to the inevitable downfall, and practiced crafting our own heart-wrenching narratives.

Inspired by the collaborative fiction project, this "S.C.P. Writing" workshop taught us how to write in the style of classified documents about supernatural, cosmic, and paranormal entities. It was a unique exercise in world-building and technical writing.

How do you build narrative tension in mystery fiction? This online workshop broke down the key elements, from red herrings and cliffhangers to the slow reveal of clues, to help us write compelling mysteries that keep readers guessing.

To write realistic crime stories, you need to get the details right. This workshop focused on the procedural and human elements of crime, moving beyond clichés to create grounded, believable crime fiction.

Ready to get spooky? "Ghosting 101" was a beginner's workshop on writing Indian horror. We explored how to evoke fear using local folklore, cultural settings, and psychological tension to create uniquely desi horror stories.

This workshop was the first part of our "Ghosting 101" series on writing Indian horror. The session focused specifically on the art of evoking fear, breaking down techniques for building atmosphere, dread, and suspense.

About Genre Spotlight: From Horror to Sci-Fi

Our genre-specific workshops are not lectures, they are collaborative labs. When we dive into horror or sci-fi, we do not just talk theory; we break down tropes together, write for forty minutes using specific prompts, and then share our drafts for honest peer feedback. It is a space designed to help you experiment with a new style in a low-stakes environment, usually ending with coffee and conversation on the terrace.

Exploring Genres Together

Writing within a specific genre requires understanding its internal logic. In our sessions, we peel back the layers of popular fiction—whether it is building dread in a psychological thriller or constructing a believable world in speculative fiction.

How Our Genre Workshops Work

  • Deconstruct the Tropes: We analyze the essentials, like how to plant clues in mystery writing or evoke fear using local folklore in Indian horror.
  • Practical Application: After a brief intro to the craft, we set a forty-minute timer. This constraint forces you to write quickly, often leading to surprising results you would not get if you overthought it.
  • Collaborative Critique: Post-writing, we open the floor for reading. This is the heart of the club. You get real-time reactions from a diverse group, helping you understand if your horror story actually scares or your sci-fi world-building makes sense.

Why Join?

You do not need a portfolio or a finished manuscript to join. These genre sessions are ideal for beginners testing the waters and experienced writers looking to sharpen their skills. We have hosted everything from 'Ghosting 101' to 'Intricate Manifolds' for sci-fi. Our sessions are grounded, welcoming, and community-driven, focused entirely on the joy of storytelling. Whether you write for fun or plan to get published, you will find a supportive group here.

We are just a gang of writers who love stories, chai, and the occasional bizarre plot twist. Every Saturday, we gather on a terrace near Trinity Metro to scribble, laugh, and argue about metaphors.
