Writing from the Heart: Creative Workshops in Bangalore
Some stories need to be felt as much as they are told. Explore themes like love, loss, and nostalgia in a safe, supportive space designed for honest storytelling.
This session tackled one of life's biggest and most difficult themes: death. We created a respectful space for writers to explore mortality, grief, and legacy through fiction, resulting in some truly powerful and moving pieces.
"Walk a Line in My Shoes" was a session all about empathy and perspective. The prompts challenged us to step into someone else's life and write from a point of view completely different from our own.
The theme "Here You Are" was an exercise in capturing a single, fleeting moment in time. Inspired by the motion-blurred photo, we wrote stories that focused on a critical, life-changing instant.
"In My Defense, I Was There." This intriguing prompt led to stories about perspective, memory, and justification. We wrote from the point of view of characters defending their actions in a pivotal moment.
We all have a child within us. This session was a gentle exploration of the "Inner Child" theme, prompting stories about memory, innocence, nostalgia, and how our past selves continue to live within us.
A "Bildungsroman" is a coming-of-age story. This workshop focused on the journey of growth and self-discovery, prompting us to write about characters navigating the transition from youth to adulthood.
This session explored the profound theme of "Karmic Connections." We wrote stories about love, loss, and the lessons we learn from relationships that feel destined or fated.
Some friendships define a season of our lives. This session, "Memorable Matches," was all about writing stories that celebrate the power of friendship, capturing the moments and people who shape us.
This session was all about dreams. We explored them as narrative devices, sources of inspiration, and windows into a character's subconscious, writing stories that blurred the line between the real and the surreal.
In our first session of a new year, we focused on "Writing Hope." It was a workshop dedicated to finding light in the darkness and crafting stories of optimism, resilience, and the belief in a better tomorrow.
About Writing from the Heart: Emotion & Experience
This isn't a classroom with critiques on your grammar, but a space to hold raw, authentic stories. In these sessions, we focus on universal experiences—like grief, childhood memory, or karmic connections—providing a quiet, 40-minute window to draft your thoughts before sharing them with the group. Participation is entirely voluntary, and if you prefer to simply listen and soak in others' stories, that is perfectly okay.
A Safe Space for Raw Writing
Writing about personal topics can feel vulnerable. That is why our primary rule is kindness. Whether you are writing about the 'Mirror Moment' of self-reflection, a 'Deleted Chapter' from your autobiography, or a 'Bildungsroman' coming-of-age story, our community ensures your work is met with empathy, not judgment. We do not tolerate bullying or hate, allowing you to explore difficult emotions in a secure environment.
How a Session Works
- The Prompt: Each week, a volunteer host introduces a theme designed to unlock a specific emotional or narrative door.
- The Sprint: You get 40 minutes of quiet, uninterrupted time to write. No phones, no distractions, just you and your notebook.
- The Reading: If you are comfortable, you can read your piece aloud. We believe in the power of hearing your own words and receiving gentle, honest reactions from fellow writers.
- The Connection: Post-session, we head to a nearby cafe. This is often where the real magic happens—sharing thoughts, debating metaphors, and making new friends.
