A peek into the messy, magical reality of my shoots. From outdoor setups in hidden Bengaluru spots to long hours in the studio, here is how we bring creative concepts to life.

The reality of being a makeup artist. Not sure about the sensations, but there is definitely a lot of back and foot pain after a long day. This reel shows the less glamorous but very real side of my job.

A quiet moment on set, making sure every detail of the hair and makeup is perfect for the 'White Feathers' shoot.

This video shows the journey of our 'Siren of the Sea' shoot, from setting up my makeup station in the middle of nowhere to the final stunning shots at a hidden location in Bengaluru.

My first time trying airbrush makeup during a training session. This video shows the practice drills and the final application, resulting in a beautifully blended look.

A sneak peek into my time at the SMA Makeup Academy. This reel showcases some of the different looks I learned to create, from smokey eyes to half cut creases.

About Behind the Scenes

When I am on set, the makeup kit is just one part of the story. You have to adapt to the changing light, manage quick look transitions in tight spaces, and make sure the paint, glitter, and hair structure survive the chaos of the day. Whether we are shooting in a dusty outdoor location or a professional studio, my priority is making sure the artistic vision stays sharp through every single shutter click.

The photos here show the real work that goes into a concept before the final output. Creating a look like the 'Siren of the Sea' or the 'Swaṟṇavalli' series isn't a solo act. It is a full team effort. I work closely with photographers, stylists, and creative directors to ensure my makeup and hair choices don't just look good in the mirror, but actually translate to the camera.

The Reality of On-Set Makeup

Real talk: being a makeup artist involves a lot of back and foot pain. My job doesn't end when the makeup is applied. I am there for the touch-ups between shots, checking for flyaways, blotting shine, and managing hair structure so the model looks perfect until we wrap.

My Approach to Shoots

  • Adaptability: I know how to set up in less than ideal locations across Bengaluru. I bring my own lighting if the venue setup is tricky.
  • Collaboration: I believe in talking through mood boards with the crew before we even arrive. If the stylist has a vision for the hair or the photographer needs a specific skin texture, I am all ears.
  • Technical Details: I use long-lasting, high-performance brands like SMA, Kryolan, and MAC, and finish with heavy-duty fixing sprays because studio lights can be harsh.

Whether you need clean, commercial beauty for a brand campaign or something wild and avant-garde for an editorial, I am ready to put in the hours. Let's make something interesting together.
