Couture is architecture you wear. I focus on how light, shadow, and sculptural forms transform fabric into a narrative. Here is a look at my work with Vaishali S, where the garment dictates the world we build around it.

A powerful shot from the Vaishali S. campaign, where the model wears a stunning red creation that resembles a blooming flower. The styling is minimal otherwise, allowing the sculptural couture piece to be the undisputed focus.

A close-up portrait from the same look for Vaishali S. This angle highlights the intricate threadwork at the center of the 'flower' and the structured headpiece that completes the avant-garde styling.

An artistic interpretation using mirrors for the Vaishali S. campaign. The reflection creates a dual perspective on the fluid, ribbon-like texture of the red garment, adding depth and a surreal quality to the fashion portrait.

This image from the Vaishali S. campaign showcases a gown with an incredible, wave-like structure. The styling and pose are designed to emphasize the garment's organic movement, as if it were a creature from the deep sea.

A portrait where the model is framed by coral-like textures, enhancing the underwater theme of the Vaishali S. collection. The styling, including the golden headpiece, transforms the model into a mythical sea queen.

A close-up on a white, heavily textured Vaishali S. piece. My lighting strategy here was to use shadows to carve out the details, making the fabric's complex, sculptural quality tangible.

Another angle of the textured white jacket from the Vaishali S. campaign. The styling with the delicate floral headpiece adds a touch of softness to the powerful, structured garment.

A profile shot showcasing the back of a pleated, sculptural gown by Vaishali S. The side lighting beautifully illuminates the garment's form and the intricate headpiece.

A dramatic, low-key lighting setup for the same Vaishali S. gown. By concealing parts of the garment in shadow, I create a sense of mystery and draw attention to its unique, shell-like silhouette.

An ethereal shot where the model and the sculptural white dress appear to be emerging from the shadows. The styling and lighting work together to create a ghostly, high-fashion image.

About Couture Campaigns: Sculptural Forms

Getting these shapes to read on camera is not just about finding a good angle. It is about lighting decisions that hide what is not important and carve out the sculpture in the fabric. When we shot the Vaishali S collection, we spent hours manipulating the shadows to make the pleats look like living, organic matter rather than static cloth. You need a team that understands how to maintain that structural integrity through rapid changes on set.

The Art of Sculptural Styling

When I approach a couture campaign, I stop looking at the clothes as just items to wear. They are characters in a visual story. For projects like the Vaishali S campaign, the styling process begins with analyzing the garment's architecture. If the fabric has complex, wave-like pleats or rigid structures, my job is to direct the light to emphasize those features rather than flatten them.

The Technical Side of My Process

1. Narrative Development: I do not believe in throwing outfits together. We build a cohesive storyline. Whether it is a moody, painterly vibe or a sharp, avant-garde look, the styling must align with the intended atmosphere.

2. On-Set Execution: Fashion shoots are fast-paced. My kit includes specialized tools for handling high-end couture—from industrial steamer usage to precision pinning. My team of assistants is crucial here; they manage inventory and handle the rapid, complex wardrobe changes so I can focus entirely on the viewfinder and the model's interaction with the clothing.

3. Lighting as a Tool: In my editorial fashion photography, shadows are not just the absence of light. They are tools I use to create depth. By strategically blocking light, we bring out the intricate embroidery or the specific sculptural quality of a piece, making the fabric look tactile even in a 2D image.

How We Collaborate

I act as both the creative director and the photographer for most campaigns. This dual role helps me ensure that the styling I conceptualize is what actually gets captured. We handle everything from the initial moodboarding and sourcing high-end pieces to the final post-production checks. If you have a brand vision, I help you translate it into a visual language that feels cinematic and intentional.
