Handmade Soap Making: Our Studio Process
Step inside our Mumbai studio, where our all-girl team turns plant-based ingredients into cold process soap. Take a look at the slow, intentional process behind every bar.
Here I am in our studio with a fresh batch of soap. It's always a proud moment to see a counter full of our handmade creations, ready to be cured and sent to their new homes.
A candid shot of me at work, cutting a large slab of soap into individual bars. This multi-bar cutter is a lifesaver for efficiency, but it's still operated by hand with a lot of care.

A happy moment in the studio, holding up a freshly cut bar of soap. The passion for what we do is poured into every single product.
A selfie from the studio after an incredibly busy month. It's moments like these, surrounded by the fruits of our labor, that make all the hard work worth it.
A close-up of the many soap bars we produced during the busy Diwali season. Each stack represents a different scent and design, all handmade with love.
So much color in the studio! These stacks of freshly cured soaps showcase the beautiful, natural hues we achieve using clays and botanical powders.
The hardworking hands of our small team have been extra busy. This is just a fraction of what we've created, and we're so grateful for the support.
What you see today started as just one person in a 10x10 loft studio. Today, we're a humble team of 3 in a slightly larger commercial studio, still making everything by hand.
Every single bar of soap we make is 100% handmade. From separating our oils to pouring, cutting, and wrapping, it's all done with love and by hand.
About The Art of Soap Making: Behind the Scenes
When you see our soap bars, you are looking at a labor of love that started at least six weeks ago. We use the cold process method, which means we do not use external heat to speed up the saponification. This patience is non-negotiable for us because it preserves the natural glycerin and the integrity of the essential oils, ensuring that by the time a bar reaches your shower, it is gentle, firm, and ready to moisturize rather than just cleanse.
Our studio is a hive of activity where the focus is strictly on quality over speed. What started as just me in a tiny 10x10 loft studio back in 2019 has grown into our current commercial space, but the methods haven't changed. We still do everything by hand—from separating the oils and infusing our herbs like Manjistha and Haldi for 21 days, to cutting, stamping, and wrapping every individual bar.
Why We Work This Way
- No Heat, Just Patience: By skipping external heat sources during saponification, we protect the nutrient profile of our plant-based oils. This results in a bar that is naturally rich in glycerin and softer on your skin.
- The All-Girl Team: Our small team manages every step of the process. We operate on coffee and chaos, but we are meticulous about our curing timelines to ensure every bar reaches the correct hardness before it leaves our shelf.
- Clean Ingredients: You won't find synthetic fragrances or harsh colors here. We rely on clays, botanical powders, and pure essential oils. The colors you see in our swirls come from earth-derived clays, not artificial dyes.
- Zero-Waste Approach: We are serious about being eco-conscious. Our Funfetti soap is a perfect example of this philosophy, as it is created by upcycling the shavings from our regular production runs. Even our packaging is plastic-free, biodegradable, and compostable.
Whether you are looking at our Ayurvedic 'Root & Ritual' line or our signature colorful bars, every piece tells the story of an intentional process that values skin health and environmental impact equally.
