The Handmade Soap Process: From Our Home to Yours
Ever wonder how a liquid oil becomes a solid, skin-loving bar? Get a peek into our home studio, where we pour, swirl, cut, and stamp every single batch by hand.
I find soap cutting so satisfying! This reel shows the reveal of several different designs, from colorful swirls to a coffee-infused bar. You never know exactly what you'll get until you slice into the loaf.
Another soap cutting compilation. It's always exciting to see the patterns inside, whether it's a complex swirl or a rustic, textured bar.
What would you name this soap? Cutting into a new loaf reveals a beautiful pattern of earthy tones with a full moon embed.
The final steps are just as important. Here I am stamping my logo onto a batch of "Abalone and Sea" soaps before labeling them. The soap has to be at the perfect stage of curing for a clean stamp.
Making my Cafe Mocha soap for all the coffee lovers. I pour the base and then pipe the top, just like a barista. The final bar smells of freshly brewed cappuccino with a hint of chocolate.
This Beer and Berries soap is made by replacing the water with beer, which is rich in B vitamins and creates a wonderful lather. Here's the process from mixing and pouring to the final cut.
The big reveal of my neon soap! The colors are so vibrant, and the final cut shows off the fun, swirly pattern inside.
About this collection
The most critical phase of our work is the curing process. Once we pour our soap into moulds, it stays there for 24 hours before we can slice it into bars. After cutting, every single piece must rest for several weeks in a climate-controlled space to reach the right hardness and ph balance. This patience is exactly why we need a 3-week lead time for bulk orders, ensuring you receive a product that is safe, effective, and ready for immediate use.
How We Make It
We use the traditional cold process method, which keeps the natural glycerin intact and preserves the nourishing properties of our base oils like olive, coconut, and castor. Because we don't use high heat, the soaps retain their integrity, making them extra gentle for your skin.
The Anatomy of a Batch
- The Blend: We combine oils and butters with a lye solution. This chemical reaction is how soap is born.
- The Swirl: This is the creative part! We hand-pour the batter into moulds, adding natural clays and pigments to create those signature swirls and patterns.
- The Cut: This is the moment of truth. We use a wire cutter to slice the loaf, and we never know exactly what the inside pattern will look like until we reveal it.
- The Cure: The bars sit for weeks. We flip them regularly to ensure air circulates evenly, allowing the water content to evaporate for a long-lasting bar.
Why Small Batch Matters
Running a home-based business means we control every variable. If a batch doesn't meet our standards, we don't send it out. Whether it's our coffee-infused cafe mocha bar or our vibrant neon series, every soap is inspected individually. When you order from us, you aren't getting mass-produced factory stock; you are getting a piece of our work that we have personally touched, wrapped, and labelled. If you have specific needs for your event or skin type, let us know—we love tweaking our formulations to make something special for you.
Soapistry
I'm the person behind Soapistry, and I do a little happy dance every time a new batch turns out perfectly. My mom and I run this small, women-led team from our home, handling everything from pouring the oils to carefully stamping the final bars. We’re not a factory—we’re just family making skin-loving soaps we’d use on our own skin.
