About Behind the Scenes: How It's Made
Making soap this way requires real patience. We use the traditional cold-process method, where each batch sits to cure for weeks after the pour. It is not the fastest way to work, but it ensures the plant oils keep their natural properties, resulting in a bar that is actually gentle on your skin rather than just a harsh detergent.
When you see us working in the studio, you are watching a process that hasn't changed much in decades. We start by blending plant-based oils, like coconut and olive, with lye to trigger the saponification process. Unlike mass-produced soaps that remove the natural glycerin for profit, our cold-process method keeps it intact, which is why your skin feels hydrated instead of stripped after a wash.
Everything happens in small batches at our space in Malad West. We do not use palm oil, and we do not use plastic for packaging. That means when you order from us, you get a bar that was mixed, poured, cut, and wrapped by hand. Because we do not use synthetic hardeners, our bars need time to breathe and harden properly. This is why you might sometimes see 'out of stock' labels on our site—if a batch isn't ready to meet our standards, we won't ship it.
We also handle the messy parts of skincare production, from experimenting with essential oil blends to ensuring the texture is right for sensitive skin. Whether it is a batch of turmeric soap or a custom order for a wholesale partner, the method stays the same: slow, honest, and plant-based.
Fika
I am the one behind Fika, turning my Malad West workshop into a space where ingredients like coconut and shea butter become gentle skincare. There are no factory machines here, just my hands, a few wooden molds, and a lot of patience. I make every single batch to be something I would trust on my own skin.
