About The Art of Portrait Mehendi
When we plan a portrait, I need clear, high-resolution reference photos to get the facial features right. For the best result, we typically spend 6 to 9 hours on this level of detail, so please ensure we have a comfortable, well-lit space away from the main wedding chaos to work without interruptions.
Creating a portrait in henna requires patience and a steady hand. Unlike traditional motifs, a portrait is about capturing a likeness, which is why I use triple-filtered organic henna that flows smoothly without blocking. My signature style involves Jharokha framing, where I place portraits within intricate architectural windows to make them stand out against the surrounding geometric or floral patterns.
Most couples choose to include figures like Shiva-Parvati or Radha-Krishna to symbolize divine love, but I also enjoy doing custom portraits of partners or pets. If you have a specific scene in mind, like your proposal or a Varmala moment, I can map that out into your design.
Because this involves high-precision work, this package is our most comprehensive service. It includes a pre-event consultation where we finalize your design elements and placement. We use only organic cones to ensure the stain develops deep and dark, which is essential for detailed sketches. Remember to avoid water and keep the henna on for at least 6 to 8 hours to let the colour mature properly. We travel across Mumbai, Pune, and Gujarat for these bookings, and I usually personally handle the portrait work while my team manages the supporting motifs.
