My Swimming Coaching Philosophy and Techniques
I believe that training is about discipline, technique, and having the guts to try new things. Whether you are a total beginner or prepping for a race, this is how I approach the water.
I tell my students that age is just a number, and I try to live by that myself. Keeping things fun with a cartwheel dive reminds everyone that swimming is a sport for life.
A clean dive is all about the streamline. Here I am demonstrating the form I teach my competitive swimmers. Practice makes perfect.
Holding the tight streamline position mid-air before entering the water. It's a technical skill that we work on constantly to improve speed and efficiency.
There’s nothing like the combination of a beautiful sunrise, fresh air, and a good swim. This is the amazing environment we get to train in at our rooftop pool.
A look back at my journey with the academy and my amazing team of coaches. We started this 20 years ago, and our passion for teaching has only grown stronger.
About The Coach's Corner
You might see me doing a cartwheel into the pool, but when it comes to training, I am precise. We do not just swim laps and hope for improvement. I break every movement, from backstroke starts to underwater streamlines, into specific, repeatable parts. You will get hands-on feedback, and we will not move on until you have nailed the technique. It is about building muscle memory, not just getting tired.
My coaching style is built on the foundation of my ASCA Level 5 certification and two decades of experience in the water. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. If you are in my squad, you will notice that we combine technical pool sessions with dry-land training. This means focusing on core strength, flexibility, and the conditioning necessary to hold a tight streamline position when you are fatigued.
Why Technique Matters
Many swimmers think effort is just about the intensity of the workout. I disagree. You can swim for hours, but if your flip turn is wide or your hand entry is inefficient, you are working against yourself. In my sessions, we focus on the details that make you faster and safer:
- Streamlining: We drill the entry, head position, and body alignment repeatedly.
- Propulsion: We isolate parts of the stroke so you understand exactly how to catch the water.
- Mental Toughness: Racing is 50% physical and 50% mental. We practice race strategies and pacing so you know exactly what to do when your lungs are burning.
Where We Train
I run these sessions across several locations in Bangalore, including the rooftop pool at Nalapad Academy in Domlur, the Hilton properties at Embassy GolfLinks and Manyata Business Park, and the Catholic Club on Museum Road. These venues are chosen because they offer the environment needed for serious training.
Whether you are an adult beginner working through a fear of the water at our HSR Layout pool or a competitive swimmer training at our Hennur facility, the philosophy remains the same: show up, do the work, and the results will follow. If you are ready to stop guessing and start training with a plan, let’s get in the water.
