Holistic Swim Training and Dryland Conditioning in Bangalore
Getting faster in the water starts with building a stronger body on land. Whether you are swimming for fitness or competition, we incorporate mobility, strength, and conditioning to help you break through your performance plateaus.
I had an amazing experience at a high-performance swim clinic, learning from experts like Atiba Wade. Gaining insights on how strength and conditioning enhances swimming performance is crucial for our program.
It's important to practice what you preach. At the clinic, we didn't just talk theory; we got into the gym to understand the movements that build a stronger swimmer.
It was great to connect with and learn from other coaches at the Karnataka Swimming Association clinic. Continuous learning helps me bring the best and most current training techniques back to my swimmers.

A quick public service announcement: always stretch before and after your swim. Just 5-10 minutes of dynamic and static stretching helps activate your muscles, improve mobility, and prevent injuries. Don't skip it.
This young athlete is thrilled to explore his capacity. Dryland training, like skipping, is fantastic for developing coordination, footwork, and cardiovascular fitness in our younger swimmers.
Agility drills are a core part of our dryland program. These exercises improve quickness and body control, which translates directly to faster turns and more powerful starts in the pool.
Perseverance gives results. This young swimmer is working on his skipping, building the rhythm and stamina that will support his endurance during long swim sets.
Learning a new skill like skipping takes practice. We focus on soft landings and consistent rhythm. Every repetition builds the foundation for better athletic performance.
About Beyond the Pool: Holistic Training
People often think the pool is the only place to get better, but that is a mistake. We focus on shoulder mobility and core stability through specific dryland routines because stiffness is what holds most swimmers back. If you struggle with your catch or tire out too quickly during long sets, we fix those mechanics in the gym first so they translate to power in the water.
Swimming is a technical sport, but it relies on an athletic foundation. My training programs integrate dryland sessions—using therabands, core mats, and agility drills—to support the work we do in the pool at Wilson Garden, Domlur, and Koramangala.
Why Dryland Matters
- Injury Prevention: Most swimming injuries come from repetitive stress. We emphasize dynamic stretching to keep shoulders and ankles mobile, which is essential as you age.
- Power: We use skipping and coordination drills to build the footwork and core strength needed for explosive starts and turns. A stronger core prevents your hips from dropping, keeping you hydrodynamic.
- Versatility: Whether you are in the NMSA Marlins or the adult Jellyfish squad, the conditioning needs to be specific. We do not just lift heavy; we train for the endurance and stability required for consistent lap times.
The Technical Approach
As an ASCA Level 5 coach, I pull from global best practices. We do not guess. We use these off-pool sessions to identify asymmetry and drag points that are not always visible when you are moving through the water. If you are serious about dropping seconds off your time or just want to swim without pain, this is where the progress happens. You show up, you do the work, and the results follow.

I have been in the pool for 20 years, but I am still learning and trying new things every day. My coaching approach is about building a complete athlete, not just a swimmer, so expect us to spend time on the gym floor just as much as the pool deck. If you are willing to put in the effort, I will make sure you see the results.
