About Traditional South Indian Bridal Braids
When I create a traditional braid, the weight of the temple jewellery is the biggest challenge. To prevent the hairstyle from drooping by the end of your ceremony, I use extensive micro-crimping at the roots to build a solid, voluminous foundation. I then sew the Jada Billa and flowers into the braid using invisible threads, ensuring every piece stays exactly where I placed it.
Creating a traditional South Indian Muhurtham look is an art that requires structural integrity. A common issue brides face is the braid feeling heavy or losing shape after a few hours. I solve this by focusing on the foundation first. I use blow-drying and root crimping to create the grip needed to hold heavy temple jewellery and fresh flowers.
My process for a standard Mogina Jade involves:
- Volume Building: I use padding and specific extensions (Savari) that match your hair texture, blended perfectly to provide the length and thickness required for that classic, regal look.
- Jewellery Setting: I don't just pin the Jada Billa. I sew them into the braid. This is why you can move, sit, and walk during the long Muhurtham rituals without the jewelry shifting or sliding off.
- Floral Work: Whether you prefer a full jasmine cover or a spaced-out pattern with roses, I fix the flowers so they stay fresh and secure throughout the event.
I also coordinate directly with your makeup artist. If you already have one booked, I work alongside them to make sure your hair volume complements the makeup style. I travel to your venue in Bangalore or Mysuru, so you don't need to worry about commuting. Just let me know your outfit and jewelry plan during our consultation, and we can finalize the braid style that suits your face shape and silk saree.
