Traditional South Indian Bridal Braids for Your Muhurtham
Timeless South Indian bridal hairstyles designed to last from the first ritual to the final photo. I specialize in traditional floral braids, fresh jasmine arrangements, and intricate temple jewellery styling.
A complete view of a classic South Indian bridal hairstyle. This look features a neat bun, a thick garland of jasmine flowers, and a long braid adorned with traditional Jada Billai temple jewellery from top to bottom.
Here is another traditional bridal braid, showcasing how I use gold-threaded criss-cross patterns and temple jewellery to create a rich and intricate look. This style is a beautiful example of my academy's hands-on training.
For my client's son's naming ceremony, I created this elegant braid. It features a criss-cross pattern with delicate pearl strands and is accented with traditional jewellery pieces and fresh flowers.
This is a simple yet elegant traditional braid created by one of my students. The style is finished with a beautiful arrangement of jasmine and rose petals, showing great attention to detail early in their training.
My students did an amazing job creating this Muhurtham look. The braid is decorated with fresh jasmine and red flowers, along with delicate pearl accessories, perfectly capturing the bridal essence.
A beautiful example of a traditional jasmine braid, or malli poo jada. My student crafted this look, carefully arranging garlands of jasmine along the length of the braid for a classic and fragrant style.
This is a grand Muhurtham bridal look, featuring a full Jada Billai set on a thick, dark braid. The style is completed with a large jasmine veni, creating a truly regal and traditional South Indian bridal statement.
About this collection
A heavy bridal braid can be painful if the weight isn't distributed correctly. I use a structural base technique to support the Jada Billai and fresh flowers, ensuring they stay secure without pulling on your scalp. You focus on your rituals while I make sure your hair feels as comfortable as it looks grand.
My approach to the Muhurtham look is grounded in both aesthetic and practicality. A traditional braid needs to be more than just pretty; it has to survive the heat, the ceremonies, and the movement without shifting.
Hair Architecture & Prep
Before I even pick up a flower, I focus on the foundation. I use micro-crimping for volume and apply high-hold lacquers that provide a glass-like finish without the crunch. If your natural hair needs extra length or thickness to support heavy temple jewellery like the Jada Billai, I work with high-quality rental extensions to achieve that seamless, classic look.
Floral Styling and Temple Jewellery
I have a deep love for the traditional malli poo (jasmine) and rose combinations. My technique involves threading the flowers and accessories into the braid rather than just pinning them on top. This secures the weight so the braid hangs perfectly straight down your back, framing your Kanjeevaram or silk saree elegantly. Whether you want a heavy, traditional temple look or something with a modern twist using pearls and beads, the focus is always on a secure, balanced hold.
Travel & Comfort
I am based at my studio in Sunkadakatte but I travel across Bengaluru to your wedding venue. My goal is to make the getting-ready process the calmest part of your day. We sit, we chat about your vision, and we get you ready to walk out feeling '100 on 100'. If you have a specific vision or a family heirloom accessory you want to incorporate, bring it along. Let’s make your Muhurtham look exactly how you imagined it.
